The number of servers in the JP data center appears to be sufficient. They need to add 5-10 more servers to NA/EU data center this weekend, and if it stays busy across the board in a month after release (after 2nd month payments are made for new accounts) then add more.
You realize they probably have more capacity they can add to the NA/EU? No where did they say that there is no way they can add more servers.
They would be silly to be maxed out before actual launch. Most of these issues are due to the instance server which all the servers on the NA/Eu cluster put requests into. So even if you add 5 more servers right now, they are still going to put the requests into the same instance server cluster which is having performance issues.
Well I being having tons of error since Beta, so I decided to do another Char in a Jap Server, they run incredible, no lag, almost no people actually. The difference is clear compare to the usa servers. If anyone is interested we are in Fenrir. /tell <---
MMO devs should know by now that the masses will migrate to a new MMO during launch week. When will they finally prepare their servers for the shock??
IF they just would have beefed up the servers before EA,....then all these maintenances wouldnt be needed. Its not really saving them any money by limiting server load, only to have to increase the load capacity during EA. It just delays the cost, and interrupts gaming. XD
Oh man... Imagine launch day when all 25 servers go down and all 25 partially occupied jp servers start getting new people.
I have 2 chars.
One on Moogle (EU), one on Atomos (JP)
To date (Throughout Beta 4 and so far in EA)
Moogle - Always a queue to log in (lowest I seen was 15 in line, highest was 156)
Atomos - Never had to queue, always direct log in.
Moogle - Very laggy, huge numbers of people competing for mobs (yes I know you can "share" but with 6 people hitting on 1 mob, it does not last long enough to get credit)
Atomos - Take your pick of mobs, most I have had to compete with was 1 other JP who was very polite and we shared cures/pulling for 30 mins.
Moogle - Had 3102 error (22hrs), 90000 error (current for 2hrs), "Instance crash", repeated "Lost connection to server" messages.
Atomos - yet to drop connection or be unable to log in.
I do not agree that the JP servers need to be either shut down and/or given to EU/NA players.
But SE truly does need to add at least another 5 servers to the current number of NA/EU list to spread the playerbase around somewhat.
I think using Moogle as an example is a bit unfair as I understand it's the "unofficial" UK server so it's always going to be overloaded. I'm on Durandal (Legacy/JP) and it's overflowing - with queues, you can't move for people. If you picked a popular server you can't really complain that there are too many people on it, go for a less popular server although if SE add new servers you'll have the starting zones overwhelmed with people who switched....... it's a no-win situation (though more legacy would be nice with legacy to legacy x-fers).
