    Monster Linking

Has anyone heard from the developers when they plan to adress the universal linking of all monsters across species and level ranges.

I can attack a level 2 squirell and as long as it's close enough and I'm in a high enough level range to induce any form of linking I can also link a passive monster of any level that includes the often high level treants that hang around the lowbie zones.

The developers had made comment on this during the beta but obviously never got around to the issue. Is anyone else think this is a poor way to implement monster linking?

Why not have monsters of certain species be able to link via sound/sight making attacking a monster a bit more dangerous depending on your location and target, I know it's hard to tell the developers to do anything that would put the word "Challenge" into something but ...come on!

I may as well start punching people who kill bacteria when they clap their hands for how much a giant monsterous crab cares about a jellyfish nearby him.

I don't mind it too much. When you mouse over the mob you want to attack, it straight up shows you what you're going to be pulling in with it. Might as well plan ahead for the fight. And who says a moving tree and a squirrel can't be best friends?

This is Final Fantasy. Monster types have always been mixed, except for FFXI. But then, FFXI was also the only one to have an entire party stand in one place and fight monsters one at a time.

Also, you seem to be suggesting that having the higher level treants NOT link would be more challenging. I think you have that backwards.

The command /sigh does not exist.

It would not, that would only make sense and avoid a potentially fatal, non the less hillarious death if they ever put a high level monster near a low level monster where there is no chance that a player could attack the lesser without invoking the wrath of the latter.

What I mean is that if you punch a boar in the face wouldn't it make sense for the rest of the boar who seen or heard you do said action and also be agressive? As it stands it's a flat out numbers thing it has nothing to do with what type of monster or where you are. FFXI isn't the only game to have herd AI but let's use that as the most familliar example.

In XI you could attack any monster or pull it if you were carefull watching line of sight, knowing what kind of monster and if they linked or not was a crucial part of gameplay. Now it's just roll of the dice and lines showing when the inevitable beatdown could occur.

it works simple the way player can call for help so why not the monsters ? you should see the battle actions when you attack the said squirrel it shows that "monster calls for aid" meaning its throwing a call for help, so yea I don't mind it, rather I like it, but what I would like to see is some monsters attacking each other or having the npcs at random going out killing some mobs the way you would see them in FFXII but I think that isnt possible for a online game since it would add to server lag, so I will settle for monsters linking as it helps with skill-chains and spirit bound parties.
