I think it is possible that the PS3 could support addons as well as the PC. If they standardize the addon system in the right way they could allow PS3 users to save addons to a usb and install them that way. Not sure if they would do it that way, but it is technically possible.

PSN, not USB ^^ I believe that add-ons would brig no harm to the game. Example, they culd make multiples party stiles, like one with only the HP for those that need more attention and one bringing HP, MP, TP and stanmina for those that prefer the screen full of info.

PSN is possible, but the problem with that is that Sony would have to okay them, and there most likely wouldn't be many 3rd party ones if that is the case. I was thinking something similar to how you can install PS3 themes from a USB drive... assuming the same API's are available to game developers.

I would like some add-ons to customize the interface, and I think more information is generally a good thing, but at the same time I don't want it to turn into wow's "everyone in the raid needs to have x dps and y gearscore in order to join." Gear actually does make a noticeable difference in that game, but in this game it's more down to abilities and tactics, which I think is a good thing. It's good to be able to improve yourself, but the obsession with efficiency that can come with things like damage meters can hurt the actual fun aspect of the game.

That's actually part of the reason I voted to have preset stat assignments with disciplines instead of manually assigning them in the poll, because this too always has a "best" way that the elites want it, and it ends up forcing everyone to do the same thing anyway to do group content.

However, other kinds of addons, for instance ones that make huge targettable windows for party members to make healing easier, or to let you know what range you are from an enemy, or to pop up with customizable notifications when long-cooldown abilities are up, these things are good and don't engender the same "everyone MUST HAVE THEM" mentality.

It'd be best if there was also some way implemented to use them on PS3, which isn't impossible--Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3 had player mods, but unfortunately the rest of the game was fairly underwhelming compared to UT2004 so it didn't get much attention.

Why do people still think that addons aren't possible on the PS3? Haven't any of you played Unreal Tournament III?

This isn't the day of the PS2 any more. Stuff that wasn't possible last generation is totally feasible today.

I think addons would be great on one condition, they are user submitted and tested and also supported on PS3 in some form.

Addons are a good way not only to make the game better but also give developers idea's for continued UI updates, just look at WoW and how Blizzard have implemented some of the users idea's over the years.

Things like healing addons, wardrobe addons, quick class respecs, quick gear swaps, increased macro support, more action bars, the list goes on.

I kinda hope this sort of thing doesn't get implemented, somehow >.>

I'm sure there are those who'd kill for it, but for me it just.. feels uncomfortable. 'Guess it comes down to fairness, not having to deal with other people obsessing even more over damage readouts and the like, and not breaking immersion further than I have to, or something..

Bring on the meters. And action/trait/gear layout/point allotment save add ons too while you're at it. And a custom inventory sorter. And an NPC trash auto-sell add on.

    Immersion can suck it.
