Let me just paste a blog that I wrote concerning this very topic.

I don't understand the need for Mp-Regen in this upcoming update. Conjurers in my opinion are over-powered currently. If you do not know how to use your job then you should not complain about running out of MP. I have been on many battle leves and NM's never have I needed to use even an ether. So why is there this sudden cry for Mp-Regen? I can both nuke and heal and still have plenty of MP. My guess is people are not using the armory system to the fullest.

I am a 43 Conj with over 1000 MP. I use spirit bind in longer battles to conserve MP and then when I reach half way use Tranquility. I also leveled my Tham up to get Siphon MP. With those 3 abilities alone I am able to maintain the correct amount of MP that is needed to fulfill my roll in ANY party.

So once again why is there this outcry and sudden need for Mp-Regen. Final Fantasy is not for everyone and it seem with each update we are getting closer and closer to a WoW clone. SE if I wanted to play WoW I would....I play Final Fantasy for the challenge. Those that are too weak to learn there job and raise other jobs to be a better player might be best if you went back to WoW and let us real players do what needs done to play the game with a challenge!

Then there was a second part because of whiners!

So I think maybe my last post did not explain why it is that I feel MP-regen is not needed at this point in the game.

Spells in this game do not cost near what they did in FFXI. I realize that DoW do not get a huge Mana pool, but they don't need as much either. SE has done an excellent job of giving abilities that allow you to regain MP lost/used. Yes I am aware that their WS cost MP so either Siphon MP use Stygian Spikes OR stop spamming those WS.

The best thing about this game is the ability to use spells or traits from other classes. So since it appears that I need to explain to the DoW how to maintain MP here we go.

Raise your Tham to level 20 so that you get Stygian Spikes which add MP when you get hit which you get as a Tham 16 and then you get Siphon MP at 20. These 2 abilities allow you to keep you MP at a high level so that you will not run out. If you are too lazy to do that, can I suggest stop complaining since there is a way to maintain AND get MP back.

This method works as I have yet to find a DoW in my LS to complain about not having enough MP OR the ability to regain it. For those that were snide in the last post. Sorry if I hurt your feelings about complaining about Mp-regen and being a "weekend warrior". Also I am very VERY aware of how points are distributed but it seems to me if you have a problem then may I suggest you distribute them again. YOU CAN DO THAT IN THIS GAME!

As I stated before Final Fantasy is not for everyone and if you think that its too hard then maybe you should go back to playing WoW. Those who like the challenge are tired of the give me patches to make things easier for the "Weekend warriors"

I'm in full support of removing the MP regen. There is no pride in being a mage any more. Only bad players need it. Adding MP regen for bad players makes the game more boring for good players.
These two posts couldn't be anymore true, and I couldn't agree anymore. When I heard about this auto-MP regen change like 2 months ago I was like "wtf? this is completely unneeded, I have unlimited MP as it is, now I'll never run out of mp no matter what? cool" I remember idiots would run out of MP randomly because they'd forget to siphon/tranquaility/etc, now no one runs out of MP, ever.

Mages don't have to manage hate, they don't have to manage mp, they don't have to manage cast times, they don't even have to manage positioning. WHAT EXACTLY DOES A MAGE DO? LOL I normally play support or casters in MMOs, but they take such little skill in this game I gave up at around 30 -_-

Mages don't have to manage hate? When did that happen?

And managing MP before the regen change was hardly a challenge, more like a stupid inconvenience.
