The argument that the MP regen was added to balance content to come is apologetics at best and otherwise completely groundless supposition. It's painfully obvious that the mp regen was added to fix retrospective gameplay. The only role MP regen has, if its content isn't even here yet, is to make the game a snorefest to people looking for mindful play and rewarding character challenges. MP regen isn't to help with content that isn't here. Otherwise you just add MP regen when that content arrives.

Secondly, MP regen is not for meleers. Siphon MP is. I just took all my meleers to 10 and archer to 22. I siphon enough MP to spam red lotus on gladiator. Just straight spam it. I have zero business siphoning 60 and 70 MP every minute fifteen from mobs as a meleer, and you're going to give me mp regen in between?

I have cure III and siphon in position 9 and 10 on my soloing meleer action bar. They've bounced bloodbath and 2nd wind straight off the bar. It's out of control.

There's no pride any more. Gameplay's become comfortably numb. In fact, a lot of pink floyd songs describe the wrong that happens when societies become like FFXIV's feels.
