How To Unlock Dragoon

ok, this is going to sound stupid, but i am a fresh FFXIV player and had some questions.

right now im a lvl 20 lancer and currently working on leveling up marauder.

once i hit dragoon, do i start over at level 1? if not, how does it work?

should i level lancer to 50 or just hit lancer 30/marauder 15 and level dragoon from that point on?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once you unlock DRG, you get a little item that you equip that changes your LNC to DRG. You do not start back at level 1, but whatever level you were when you completed the quest. Your DRG level is your LNC level, and any exp you get as DRG will level up lancer (DRG in essence replaces LNC.)

I would suggest getting 30 LNC and 15 MRD, then level up as DRG.

For me I had LNC 30 PUG 17 MAR 20 with all class quests completed (1-15) on each class before hitting 30 on my LNC. The quest was available as soon as I got Phlebotemize from Ywain.

Probably already answered, but you have to finish the entire lancer story in order to begin Dragoon. After finishing the last of the Lancer quests, the Guildmaster at the Lancer Guild (Same guy giving you lancer quests) Will direct you toward the Dragoon first quest. Which starts in Coerthas.

The original requirements were Lancer/30 Pug/15 but they decided the Dragoon fit the description better with Mar. In any case, here's a guide done by a friend of mine that explains all of it, short and to the point.

Just unlocked Dragoon today. Definitely Need 30LNC/15MRD.

In version 1.0 You needed Lv 30 lancer and Lv 15 pugilist to unlock the Dragoon Job.

But i can confirm that it has been changed for version 2.0 or ARR , to LV 30 lancer and Lv 15 maurader. ( Since i am currently running a Dragoon as my main :P )
