Character Town Selection

Tried beta 4 on PS3 and did not know your town was selectable nor permanent. It defaulted to Uldah even though my original character was from Limsa which I greatly prefer. Is there a way to change allegiance in game?

Your not tied to any specific city. In fact, around level 15 everyone is on the same story. You will be able to select a grand company at level 25. I would consider that to be more your home town.

You starter city isn't select-able - it is tied to the class. I wish it was select-able. I want to roll an archer alt but dislike Gridania greatly (a city built in a ravine? canyon running is only fun in an xwing). The reason stated for city being tied to class is not every city has every class guild. I think the only other mmo that tied classes to something was Warhammer Online and then classes were tied to a faction.
