I feel kind of sad reading these threads...
"Listen but closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."
You're seriously comparing maintenance to rape... Also, you didn't buy early access.
So, how many players DID NOT pay a dime for early access? Legacy players did when they bought 1.0 and paid 3 months of service. I know I wouldn't be in it if I hadn't paid for the game. This means that it is essentially a paid service. So are we entitled? Yes, I think so.
However, a person should always expect these kinds of things at launch. Paid service or not, it is unrealistic to assume everything will run flawlessly forever and ever. What this means is, we are entitled to be a little upset when things go down, but we shouldn't go demanding things that are just silly. You aren't required to be happy about the downtime, just try to ease up because it is to be expected with every MMO, especially at launch.
The same complaints in every MMO launch. It’s like people never learn to alter their expectations of an MMO launch. All the complaints have been heard far too many times to be meaningful.
He's actually not. You missed his point. Also in the event that a 1.0 player pre-orders a game they already own specifically for EA, then they are in fact buying early access. Otherwise they''d be saying "I'm getting this game for free, but I'll buy it again anyway"? That makes no sense.

To be fair, Yoshi-P wants to attracts new players and casuals to XIV, who will most likely not have played a MMO before. It does leave a bad impression for them, and if people are saying "don't like it, then leave", then it's SE's who going to get hurt when their new audience is being turned away by it's older audience.
I'd just like to point out I am not a Legacy person... I was gifted the game and I was in Beta... I think of this as more of a "thank you for participating in Beta and pre-ordering"
Also to the QQ'ers...um isn't there something else that can be done in RL while you're waiting instead of QQing over something that's being worked on.
