Not just better than 2004. Significantly better than 2004. As others have said, this is very good compared to other releases. If you're expecting perfection at a time when the servers (and their ISPs) are seeing significantly higher traffic than they will probably see on any other day, then you've got your own issues.
Feel free to name other highly popular releases that did not suffer a few hours of downtime or severe bugs at launch or even for the first week or two. I'd like to see a list, as would others.
And that's why I refuse to work retail. The customer isn't always right, and they're welcome to go elsewhere. The kicker is that I know they'll get the same quality experience or worse elsewhere in most cases. Customers pull this crap because they hope to get free stuff, and they often get just such rewards. The same thing is seen in small children when they cry endlessly in the toy stores.

I just try to imagine how pathetic and weak minded people that go out of their way to make excuses for a service providing company are in real life.
Do you apologize to a waitress when she brings you the wrong order for the 4th time?
Do you thank the cop after he picks you out of rush hour traffic and writes you a ticket for going 7 over?
When people answer their cell phones in the movie right behind you I bet you just sit there are suffer while they have a 5 minute conversation.
Making a forum topic and complaining about SE dropping the ball is just a waste of time, we know their track record of fail and we are all still here.
But what is even more pathetic is unpaid consumers of SE go out of their damn way to defend things that are caused by nothing other than lack of preparation and poor decisions.
Sad.
Don't worry if 2.0 doesn't work . Give SE 3 years to launch 3.0 ff14 reborn again
^ This! I remember WoW's open beta and launch. Not only did we have to stand in line for hours at the store to buy a copy, both beta and launch were riddled with horrific downtime and lag. 3 hours downtime in an otherwise smooth start under very heavy load for FFXIV ARR? SE is doing just fine. Wish I could say the same for some of its less patient customers.
their patient customers have waited sense 2010 for a good game. time to fix it
Off-topic a bit:
The game is not even that good.
I really wish they would have just BUILT off of 1.23. They changed a whole lot more than I expected.
Anyways... that's a discussion for another thread, which I will never make, seeing as this was discussed A LOT on the beta forums.
I agree, by the end of 1.0 they had a perfectly functional game and recovered from their flop once no one really played it anymore. Now a year later and SE not much wiser, has a barely functional game that you cannot progress through which like at the start of 1.0 will drive away the player base and we will be right back where 1.0 was, soon a game that will work, but no one to play it. It is not like I want to feel like a "whiner," but 2 previous games, ffxi and ffxiv 1.0 and still the same errors and game breaking problems, not to mention all the hype, they should have known how many players to expect from pre orders and beta test applications, so ultimately it came down to being ill prepared.

Agree at that, tera, rift, alot others mmos got same problems or worst at early and worst ones at release day, before someone say soemthing about ill just say that: i was there trying play at early and at release days belive... alot games first week after release goes way better, but before that just expect the pain.

more pewpew less QQ
Get over it.
