i'd like to say this was expected but in all honesty i thought it would have happened nearer the start and not 4 hours in.
I'm pretty impressed things are being sorted so quickly in comparison to other mmo releases as others have said.
Kudos to SE so far. Problems are expected so just calm down everyone and have a little breather. Power nap here i come! lol

There are probably a lot more people playing in Early Access then there were for Open Beta, especially in the NA/EU servers.

Even MMOs that have been around for years sometimes have issues crop up. (reminds me of WoW when Burning Crusade was released and the server for Outland kept on going down repeatedly among other issues)
Also remembers the infamous "Error 37" in Diablo 3

Just use this down time to take a break, do some stuff that needs to be done, etc. It will be fixed.

Wow! i just woke up and thank god SE shutted down all the servers because i'm having an issue! SE trying to fix service accounts error. Yay! Now we can catch up when the servers back up

The maintenance doesn't bother me in the least, but the huge amount of issues getting the ea codes, and registering/downloading the game, and the absolute lack of customer service however, is a major negative for this company.

Wondering what MMOs you guys play as I have never encountered a 3 hour emergency shut down a few hours into early access. I agree with the OP as this should have been addressed in Beta as they had 4 of them to my knowledge, no game "launching" should have to shut down 6 hours into their launch. Its embarrassing on their part. For those of us that do not have the luxury to sit around and play all day this is extremely disappointing.

If we are going to make comparisons, what i believe is not worth while, but, lets get swkotor for instance, you can't compare the that launch with this.

If swkotor was with the same problems 1.0 had, i really think they will never do what SE did, getting the game off with "go home and rethink your life" kind of thing and remake the entire game design.

swkotor was a messed up in every way, and it is until now, and i was on swkotor in all his history, since beta.

THAT is crap support, THAT is something you really don't want, they did not respect the players, there are stuff we asked in beta, cried out for it, and until today, nothing happened to address those things.

So, if i was to compar that shit with this game, i would say SE rocks !!! And i love this game ^_^

BUT!!! that does not mean i do not understand you, i do, really, its bad to be kicked off from the server : ( but hey, with the shit history i have with mmo releases, i can still give this guys a lot of chances yet : )

Is one of the issues that people are experiencing where NPC's not just in duties or instances but in TOWNS/CITIES wont load right away. After takes a few for them to load also takes a little longer for the (!) icon above head to appear also? I was having that issue as well as certain motions my character made was "stuck" so to speak in what seemed like a lag spike but wasn't lag.

I must say, I didn't actually expect to be able to play at all today. I expected mostly waiting in ques and getting disconnected, so for me, this early access is doing much better than others I have been in.

Also... when it comes to coding, you can fix one bug and create 10 more with the fix. Between beta 4 and here they probably created many bugs while fixing others. At least they are getting onto it right away instead of waiting.

when MoP came out in wow it was a nightmare in Kazzak server, the server kept crashing for 3 days..
relax its just a 2hr maintenance.
