So far for me the launch is more smoother than other MMOs I've been on. I'd much rather they fix the issue and take down the servers for emergency maintenance tbh. If left broken.... people complain.... if servers are taken down for emergency maintenance.... people complain.... What can I say but.... People like to complain!! :P

this is a big game
there will be bugs found all the time
fix one thing, it may break something else

if things are not working right,
maintenance will happen with ANY online game

when an online comes out servers will crash and get they overloaded with requests and can not handle all of them

look what happen with the new sim city and Diablo 3
the servers had a hard time with all the users

I some what agree with OP, stuff like this happens in MMO's how ever.

- When your open beta stress test kind of failed, has bugs and you need to lock all servers because they can't handle the amount of people your ''try the game' failed.
The problem is that the Japanese didn't had this issue just NA/EU so they didn't bother testing longer and released it like this .

- They stated we would have gotten a longer early access, which they backed down from.
How ever when the early access which you paid for is so short I kind want to play during the EU peak time.
So no I'm not happy when you didn't test proper and do a maintenance now

- The Japanese servers are fine and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of Japanese playing final fantasy.
It does beg the question why is it fine there and not here?


If they keep this great treatment up I'm pretty sure their rep will sink and there will be people that won't be putting up with it.

I truly understand your frustrations friend. I also am beyond frustrated. I did and still do expect there to be bugs and issues. I woke up at 5am to play a little before work and MY issue isn't what you're going through. Mine is what seems like LAG but certainly isn't especially since my computer is certainly capable of running game at high settings and did a net test and was fine. Takes NPC's forever to load up. When they do the (!) icon above their head takes just as long to appear. Also experience spikes of what seems to be "lag" but isn't when casting spells.....really hope w/e fixes they do this is one. I also hope that i am not the only one going through THIS particular issue.

compared to other mmo launches star wars, diablo 3, aion, guildwars, even wow when they launched most of them had log in issues servers going down, and yes i know its frustrating iv been waiting for this game since they announced it but give it time they will work out the major issues

Server issues that they are dealing with are being caused by such a large load on them. The duty and instance servers are trying to handle transferring thousands of people in and out of the servers. While we are not beta testers anymore every game has issues handling the large influx of people who want to start playing right away. As for the JP servers doing fine while the EU/NA servers are not, are probably a function of the number of people playing on them. Anyways be patient and give them a chance to work things out.

I am extremely happy to see it looks like they might be using my suggestion of hourly updates on issues though which is nice.

I agree with the OP. SE has had plenty of time to deal with crap like this.
It's restricted only to NA and EU servers
I saw at least 2 messages saying something along the lines of "instance servers aren't working for NA/EU servers. We're working on it." - No you're not, if you were working on it I'd be reading that message in the forums because you'd already shut down the servers.

I paid good money for this game, money that I work hard for. I don't have all the time in the world to sit around and wait for servers to come up, and I'm certainly not going to just roll another character on a JP server.

If my performance at work sucks, I get shit for it. Well, SE, here's your shit. Open beta was more successful than your early access launch. If this is how our relationship is going to be, it'll be a short one.

You could tell from the way p4 was handled that issues would still be present on na/eu servers. When I finally tried the game this morning, servers had just gone down. Only my second char I made on the jp servers during 3102 was accounted for. Sadly I expect an Issue with my main until the servers go back up. Keep in mind early access, but official release, so close enough. Too much strain because everyone wants it now now now.
