Character creation lock - Need official answer ASAP

Servers crowded = slow servers so Square locked out new characters. I am confused why I can't stack all 7 of my alts on one server, but then if new players can't make new chars, no one can make new chars.

Not the answer I wanted to hear. My wife and I could easily move to a different server as her character got onto Excalibur and I cannot. Others say why not have your friends go with you? Unfortunately for me, I am in a 50-60 person guild and that is where we planned to be.

I was more hyped about FFXIV than my wife was and after being up all last night trying to get in till I passed out asleep and then again for half of this day: This is not how I expected my weekend to be. I know it is Early Access but that isn't the point in the end. Open Beta/Phase 4 should have wiped the characters and had them start properly in EA to allow for people to get to the friends they wanted to get to.
