I found that enabling occlusion culling helps with the random fps drops. It doesn't lower the visual quality, just disables rendering for stuff you cannot see. I get a little higher fps with "default" than with optimize 1x1. Also to make sure the new frame pacing feature isn't causing anything funny, you ought to turn it off in both System and ffxiv.exe profile (I think I was getting some sort of flickering with it left on).

Did anyone make an optimal graphical setting guide yet?
Which options can be turned off with minimal visual loss and good FPS gain and such?

Hi every I had the same problem as everyone here and I think I found a solution. What I ended up doing was changing my power options, I noticed my processor speeds would never increase from 1.15GHz while playing ffxiv (other games would increase its speed.) I also noticed the benchmark tool would change my processor speed. so I just changed my power options.

Go to you control panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change Plan Settings on whatever you're using > Change advanced power settings > Processor power management > and increase your minimum processor state.

Hope this ends up helping other people.

I am also having issues with this. Have fraps active, but not recording, and I get 160fps+ when SLi is maxed out. When I move around in the field the SLi indicator goes down and in some areas the SLi indicator shows nothing. When this happens my fps is at like 20 - 30. I have tried running fullscreen and borderless windowed and still get the same issue. My specs are as follows:

    Intel i5 3570k OC 4.5ghz
    12GB DDR 3 1600 memory
    2x GeForce GTX 670 SC 4gb

I also have the game running on an SSD drive and using the newest beta drivers. This issue also was happening when I was using the newest WHQL drivers. I was getting about 16,500 in the benchmark so I'm sure that SLi is just not implemented properly yet. Just felt like giving a bit of information so the issue can be resolved ASAP.

This is kind of a general question, but make sue that your computers power setting are set to performance and not power saving, i ran into this issue a few months back when playing swtor, i would get 10-15 FPS with power saving setting and over 120 with performance.

Have you turned off SSAO? That seems to stress this game out on even the best PCs for no apparent reason.

@TorrentStormbiner I always have my computer running at High Performance in the power mode.

@ZyloWolfBane That could be what's causing it, but considering the specs of my computer it shouldn't be happening. Then again most MMOs have really bad SLi support so it doesn't surprise me. I'm just hoping this one is different and they actually work on getting good SLi support.

I'm running a 2.33 quad with 8 gig of ram and a HD5770 with no issues, max settings and 40 fps. Are you using a older hard drive? that's usually where the bottle neck is. I just installed a Solid state for my games and saw a good 25% speed increase in them. With that set up what speed is your HD?

I run PLENTY of games , online and off, from the same HDD with ZERO stutter.
Yeah something weird is going on, during phase 3 everything went smooth. Phase 4 and on, i started to get stutters, it gets really bad sometimes. Crossfire gives same or worse performance. Using 7970.

    Catalyst 13.6 Beta2

    FFXIV Settings:
    PC-Maximum
    2560x1440

I uninstalled 13.8 Beta2 due to reasons with other games. I found no issues returning to 13.6 Beta2. I get 60-70% Load on both cards, and >50 FPS in most areas (of course areas with lots of players I become CPU bottle-necked so FPS drops into the upper 30s.)

The best CFX method I found is Optimize 1x1, AFR-Friendly works too but I found it had more flickering and Default is almost useless.

    Create a profile for FFIX:
    Right click your desktop
    Click AMD Catalyst Control Center
Click Gaming > 3D Application Settings
In the new window click the +Add Buton
In the new window find your "ffxiv.exe" it will vary depending where you installed it
Once you got the profile made, on the very bottom you will see the option: CrossfireX Mode. Select "Optimize 1x1"
Save Profile, Launch game (make sure it is in Fullscreen, CFX only works properly in Full screen.)

Enjoy decent GPU Load and Frame Rate.

Hope this helps the Radeon users. If you use Catalyst 13.8 Beta2 you'll have the Frame Pacing Option, On/Off shouldn't make a difference but then again I had to stop using that driver since it doesn't work with some of my games.
I'll have to try 13.6b2, i have horrible perform with Xfire using 13.8b2 and major stutters.

Do you get stutters at all using 13.6b2 ?
