Dead party members keeping claim on monsters

This is rampant on my server I don't know about others but basically if a party member claims a mob, dies and keeps that mob targeted while dead it will stay red to the dead guys party and not turn yellow but it will act like it is passive. So what people are doing at NMs is attacking it as soon as it pops, dieing and keeping the claim with themselves dead while the rest of their group gathers up to kill it. While being glitched like this the monster can still aggro other people but they will be unable to claim it or use actions against it.

This is a major problem with NM's in general. My LS was approaching the Goblin NM and as we were getting ready to send our tank in. This random character sprinted past us with the quick ability and aggro died the NM and effectively locked the monster from us. The NM's proceeded to attack my LS but did not allow us to claim. We sat there for 5-10 minutes as another LS slowly trickled in and started to fight the monster.

I have one other glitch on top of this that is related to add.

When the LS started to fight the Goblin they encountered some kind of glitch that forced the NM's name to appear yellow the entire fight. It was not claimable outside of their party. Also this prevented the goblin's rage timer from executing. Which then they were able to drag out the fight well over 45 minutes.

I am not sure if death claiming indirectly results in a claimed yellow status but this is an issue that needs addressing.

That seems to be the case I have never seen claimed yellow mobs other than when people do this.

Hmmm. quite some time ago (well before the patch), while farming for gnat wings in the mines with a friend, an archer had somehow engaged or aggro'd a gnat. Despite apparant disengagement, with the archer engaging and killing other mobs, and moving well beyond the range/distance to normally disengage the gnat, the gnat showed as yellow, but we were unable to claim it. Not sure if this is related.

    Hello everyone.

I can see player's using that method to interfere or disrupt other players. Thank you for taking the time to inform us of it! We will be happy to forward this current issue but we require some more details beforehand. Since you started the thread BlackomegaKingofwaffles, can you please fill out the following information?

    NPC Name: none
Monster Name: any monster but mostly NMs
    In-Game Time: none
    Steps:
    1. Form a party and make sure everyone is in the area.
    2. Run up to the notorious monster and attack it solo and die
    3. make sure to keep the targeting recticle on the monster you want to glitch.
    4. You are now dead targeting the monster and it is still claimed to your party.
    5. It can still aggro other player but they will not be able to engage it.
    6. If anyone in the dead persons party gets aggro from a different mob while this is being done it will no longer work.

    Greetings, BlackomegaKingofwaffles!
Thank you for posting your concerns about dead players still keeping claim of monsters. It does seem that this could be greatly disruptive, so I will make sure to submit the information that you have provided to the development team. I highly recommend keeping an eye on this thread for any possible updates regarding the investigation. Thanks again for your report!

There is an easy way to counter this claim hold method when another person/linkshell does it against you. When the NM becomes passive you can aggro said NM briefly before it becomes passive again (yet still claimed to the dead body). Run up and get its attention and immediately move away so it keeps stepping towards you. When you pull it far enough away from the dead body holding it, it will reset it's threat list and it will go unclaimed.

We were successfully able to drag it away from the linkshell that did this to us and eventually initiated a claim on it, killing it right in front of them. I do agree that this claiming system is atrocious and needs to be fixed, but not all hope is lost in these circumstances

Actually I believe you don't even have to have the monster still targeted to maintain claim after it has killed you.

Also - I have seen times when someone is fighting a normal monster and it appears yellow (not claimed) and then someone else was able to go up and take the claim away.
