Questions About Restarting a Character

I created a character during open beta and I was wondering a few things. Can I delete my character, and if so how?

Secondly, if I delete my character will his name be available to use for a new character, or will it be locked out?

the name will be available (or at least it was back in 1.0) but I don't know how to delete a character,I couldn't figure it out when I wanted to delete one

Thank you for the response Desirai. After some more experimentation I discovered that you have to right click on the character's name in the select screen, and that brings up a little 'Delete' box.

I did that in p4 and it worked then also like Desirai said.
