Mounts unauthorized on 1.0 character

I've got the same problem

I also have this issue on Legacy Chocobo and Goobbue. I have the icons on my tool bar and also in the actions menu under "mounts" after using both items, yet they remain greyed out and unselectable. I get the "unauthorized to summon mount" msg when I click on either action.

ITEMS FOR BOTH MOUNTS WERE USED CORRECTLY
AND TAKEN FROM ACTIONS TAB
AND PUT ONTO TOOLBAR WHERE THEY ARE GREYED OUT.

Steps:
1. Used Item for Legacy Chocobo and Goobbue Mounts.
2. Item appears in Actions panel and dragged it to toolbar but is always greyed out.
3. When clicking to use the Legacy chocobo or Goobbue, an error message "Unable to authorize mount" appears on my screen. This also happened in Phase 4.

If SE has changed the Goobbue Mount to a Grand Company Goobbue Mount, they should make an announcement and provide in-game story/lore explaining why they are preventing something that was allowed in v1 and phase 3. (After the rest of the game stops demanding all their resources, of course.)

I can confirm what he says is true.
After playing through the story to join a GC, and getting my Chocobo license in a Grand Company quest, I activated my other mounts as usable.

Problem solved, though it really needs some new text to tell you that that's why you can't use your mount.

Thank you for this confirmation. I can't define to you how grateful I am for this clarity because everyone in game that I ask, has a different reason as to why they can or cannot access their mounts.

I think there has been confusion because many things that normally require quests to access, were authorized at lvl 1 in beta but only for testing purposes, this can be confusing for people who don't realize that it was purely for testing.

Also there is the fact that in 1.0 Goobbue mounts were usable by people who had not done the GC quests, people who did not have GC chocos or even were in a GC and it feels as if Coeurl mount and even the Unicorn, though it is gained via quests, should be like the Goobbue, where it is not directly related to GC participation but separate objectives unrelated to obtaining a chocobo license.

I am indeed one of those rare legacy players who did not join a GC or obtain a personal chocobo license in 1.0 but rode a Goobbue mount obtained through the Wandering Minstrel.

As for your stating there needs to be a notice, I agree. Other things that we cannot access, clearly state, in a special black message dialog, the objectives that we need to clear in order to get access. [Example, when I go to the GC desk to try to join, I get the message that I need to advance through the storyline first.]

The confusion is compounded and highlighted to more frustration with all of the new bonus mounts arriving in the mog mail box and people eager to try them out.

Dev Suggestions/Feedback:
Instead of a red, "unauthorized to summon", A simple notice regarding:

1. A notice upon clicking the mount's icon stating it is usable after 'X' objectives are fulfilled.

2. The way to get a GC Personal Chocobo license vs a Companion 'battle' Chocobo.

3. Since players at level 1 may get the themed bonus Chocobo Barding in the mailbox [Example: Behemoth, Magiteck]. When to access it. Clarity as to whether it can be used on Legacy Chocobos, Companion battle Chocobos or only GC personal Chocobos.

4. Clarity on whether bonus mounts that arrive in the mail box do/do not require a [example: "Coeurl License" "Legacy Chocobo License"] to ride.

5. Clarity as to what license you need to ride the Unicorn obtained through the CNJ quests.


I understand that priority is most important on getting people into the game to at least play so I am patient and will wait, it is just the not knowing that is confusing for me, so I thank you again MysteriousRonin.
