My combat performance has been sub-par ever since the targeting system update.

I always have to do some sort of action in order to get the action bars on screen, which enables me to change action bars with the arrow keys. (Is there another way to change action bars?) With the new system, I have to be locked on a target to change bars (though I swear sometimes it ignores that and changes modes anyway), or else it changes modes instead; with no way to change said hotkey. I can't count how many times now that I've tried to switch bars and ended up changing my target mode and targeting allies (or myself) instead of enemies that I need to attack or keep aggro on.

Edit: More on that: You can't change targets after being locked on, which happened automatically on default settings; forcing me to turn off auto target lock-on; which forces me to manually toggle lock-on whenever I want to change bars, making combat even more tedious.

This is incredibly frustrating in groups when I'm tanking because I can't switch bars and activate other skills unless I actually use a skill, and then by the time I use said skill and change back to my other bar and try to attack or provoke, I'm targeting a friendly instead.

I've not even mentioned the fact that tab targeting is HORRIBLE and will target something off in the distance instead of something right next to you. I'm forced to tab target because I can't click on enemies in 15 person parties; whether because there's too many people crowded over the enemy; or because they made nameplates clickable with no option to turn that off.

Where is "Target Mode C) Use the old targeting system"?

Hell, where is the ability to re-bind space, enter and the arrow keys? I've resorted to autorunning in order to rotate my camera (even 180°) when my mouse hand is busy because I've unbound the camera control keys since the arrow keys were not bindable. In what game does one hit space to start chatting? Personally, I'd rather have space do what enter does and vice versa; or you know, have enter start chat and also confirm everything. Would rather workaround the chat issue by being able to hit /, which is what some games require for chat input to start when the focus is elsewhere.

The planned PS3 version of the game has really destroyed the PC version. Why was something like "Use separate PS3 client" not thought of in development after experience with FFXI? It'd be like having a 'gamepad' version of the game; except it's completely tailored to the PS3, while the PC version is completely tailored to the PC. Sure, it'd require more development time since they'd have to update both versions separately, but then you get the optimal experience people will enjoy and respect.

It's sad when you want to love something but hate so much about it.
