No its not too good, its not even as good as darklight unless you add materia, and one of the present stats is always below the stat cap. I have pieces of them too. Full set of heavy dark steel and some vanya healing from mats left over. They aren't better until I add materia to make up for the missing stats, and materia takes time too.

From a "I didn't have hoards of cracked materia or mats left over or multi-melts to sell from 1.0" perspective, they are not worth getting compared to darklight. Time spent getting to the point of making them is much better diverted towards getting ilvl90 gear from mythologies right now.

I said it a couple of times, but if you have the mats and stuff from 1.0, then they are good to craft, however they really aren't worth the tombstones after the fact. I think in phase 4 the mats had their normal cost, so it was the best time to get the materials and get stuff crafted then too. but when early access hit, it became unworthy.

Had very minimal time in phase 4. Because you would have to gather all materials (gathered and farmed) to make HQ AF crafter sets (need it to even be able to craft the starred recipes), make your HQ AF crafter sets, attach materia, gather more materials, and finally make those recipes while they were still cheap.

No crafter had a chance to NOT get shafted.

You do not need HQ crafter AF to craft any 1 star item. Sure, it can help greatly, but it's not "needed". I'm well above both 1star caps and approaching 2star caps with just HQ double melded Patricians and accessories on. I'm better off than people running around in NQ AF or unmelded HQ, with crappy accs and no class-quest tool. Saw someone yesterday with some HQ AF on but still using a NQ lvl47 tool... /sigh.

HQ Patrician's = NQ AF. I'd still recommend HQ AF for 2 starred recipes because I am unsure of the materia caps for Patrician's. You can check xivdb for HQ stats on AF crafter pieces as I put them there. But if you can reach 2 starred recipe requirements with HQ Patrician's and forbidden melds then that's awesome. However I love how the crafter AF sets look and would rather spend millions putting the same materia into the same slots. Although I simply just used my own from 1.0

I still run around with HQ AF but NQ 47 tool on some jobs... since I just made all gear but it takes a while to do those quests.

Maybe so, I myself only looked at the recipes and never expected them to go retard mode at early access, so I spent my time leveling arcanist....

On a related note, I was sitting on a bunch of Rose Gold Ingots from v1, so I made and sold a pair of Rose Gold Earrings HQ (made "accidentally" from normal mats) for 2.5 million, unexpectedly. These were probably underpriced given the ridiculous amount of tomestones needed to make these NOW.

For Gear, the cost of ingredients makes no sense AT ALL, but the Rose Gold / Astral accessories are pretty damn good considering their stats are close to the Darklight stuff, but they're extensible with Materia (including Grade IV)

Basically, if you have the ingredients from back when they weren't hell to make, go wild! these are good items. For everyone else: don't bother. Like, EVER.

Hmmmm, so you're suggesting that I could very well use one set of melded Patrician's HQ for all my crafting classes until I can replace individual pieces with melded HQ AF as I procure them, and I would fare just as well?

Speaking of prices again, I sold 2 NQ hard hippogryph leathers for 700k each. before redenomination, that is 7mil each. At no point during 1.0 would I ever have gotten 7mil for one of those. I think they were more like 50k, 5k in ARR, gil back in 1.0. I'm ~13mil after taxes richer thanks to SE causing price inflation. I didn't expect anyone to buy them tho.... I feel sorry for that guy really. Tho maybe he had plenty of money to burn on them.... still isn't worth it imo.

Just chiming in to agree with the above statements on the crafters items. 9 of each is absurd in so many ways, it's not really funny and takes a lot out of the pleasure of being a high end crafter.
