Sorry wanted to reply sooner but buggy forum didn't want to let me.
A queue system would only work if everyone who wants to play already have a character on the server. Queues serve to streamline traffic, but it doesn't do anything to reduce them. If you allow new players (friends and family trying to join you) to add to that queue freely, you will soon end up with a Disneyland-style queue where at any given point half of the population is basically waiting for others to finish playing. So ultimately you still have the exact same problem: you and your friends can't play together.
A server that is full is full. If I was SE I would open more servers AND allow every existing player to do a free but optional one-time transfer to one of these new worlds, so those who wish to move in hope of reuniting with their friends/family can do so.
Except they have this wonderful thing in MMO architecture (and even this one) called queueing. They should use it. Apparently Behemoth is 'full', yet I only have a 25 person queue to get on there.Let's say you are SE: your servers have capacity limits. When they are reached, you have no choice but to "lock" the server so people already playing are not affected by the hoards of new players trying to get in. You understand that some of those new players could very well be trying to join their friends already in, but you have no choice.
The only solution to this is time for server populations to stabilize, but you guys all want your game now so Yoshi-P can't do nothing but chain smoke.
Can you open moogle already? Not having friends be able to join is retarded. I don't care if I get more que, just sort it please.
Here's food for thought: The servers are apparently, as Yoshida said, reaching cap, every server. It's only EGA. Launch means the end of Square Enix and don't expect to play, none of you. SE won't have this down for probably another 2-3 weeks.

Just let there be super long queues. 1 hour, 2 hour queues like old school wow, whatever. People will bitch about that, sure, but at least after a month or so when a bunch of people will leave like in every MMO, we'll have healthy servers and people who are sticking around long term will play where they want.
Or offer 1 Free character transfer per person after the initial free month is over.
I suggested this game to friends, at which they begrudgingly accepted to even try, but now that we cannot be on the same server they are not even giving this game the chance, just because of being forced onto a legacy server. Believe it or not, even most of the players from my 1.0 LS have yet to play and or are even not going to play because their friends cannot get onto the same server and for them to start over is just too redundant. So SE please allow more players to either get on our server or let us legacy members choose our server without restriction.

Guys, for those who are asking for communication..... go here:

Basically, you are screwed essentially. Now, that they told us this information, we must now implore them to give us new servers with FREE server transfer for guilds. PERIOD. Demand it.The maximum expected population limit is nearing for each World, and unless the current World simultaneous connection amount decreases, we are unable to open release the limitation.
In case we do release the limitation, there is a high chance that the corresponding World will crash or cause issues, and we are thinking that it will be difficult for us to release it for a while. We please ask you to consider playing in a World that has a low limitation.
It's unreal. I have 6 friends that I would really like to play with and they can't create a char on my server. The same exact thing happened when they merged servers back in 1.0 anyone remember? They lost subscribers because they couldn't do one thing that you would never expect to be an issue in any massive multiplayer game - playing with friends.
I totally agree that waiting in an hour long queue makes total sense when a server is super congested, especially at launch - totally would understand. But Locking the server??? c'mon.
