tried that. it keeps goign into read only mode as soon as i set it and save it as admini solved it!!
This is how I solved that problem:
1. Check your folder there C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn (for Windows 7), and right click on it.
2. Click on Property, General, and uncheck the "Read only" line at the bottom of the window.
3 Press OK, and then open your folder "boot".
4. Right click on ffxivlauncher.exe, Properties, Compatibility
5. Activate Windows XP compatiblity mode
My DL and installs immediatly ran flawlessly once I did this, I hope that'll help.
Also, be sure to run as Administrator, still by right-clicking the ffxivlauncher, "Run as administrator".
Good luck!
Will try that and reply with results, thanks Mebu.
Same here, unticks itself... after hitting Apply then Okay and going back into properties it's on Read Only again. Once this go around most likely fails I'll try it as admin again with this suggestion.
im getting the same thing, but am trying the compatibility with run as admin ... so hopefully this works
Okay I think I got over the 1500 hump, I'm not sure which fix it was. It was either what Mebu said or this other random thing I read on http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?foru...863121839&h=50
To resolve your problem, go into your root drive\users\your user name\my documents\my games\final fanasty xiv: a realm reborn (beta)\download\ or I think its \patch\ (im not on my home computer so im going off memory here) and theres folders with what looks like random alphanumeric names and should be a file called GameInstall something. Open that GameInstall file in Notepad and look at the path of the latest entry on the list. Go rename that folder to \whatever_old\ and restart the launcher.
Also try closing everything you can before running the launcher, web browsers included. No joke.Nothing but the launcher running. Disable your anti-virus too.
I've tried that one Dust, the files dont actually exist if the updater fails to update the game or actually succeeds in updating it, I've uninstalled the game entirely, erased all trailing files and reinstalled with ONLY XIV running (including having my anti-virus off) it doesnt fix the error at the last 36MB
i had that problem and solved it by my last post so.. just wanted to help
gl guys
