I am speechless SE. You guys have really screwed the pooch on this one. I'm getting closer by the moment to the point where I just say "I'm done" and just walk away for good. At the very least you could be acknowledging these errors.

If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know. I'll try anything at this point.
uh... yeah... a game cannot and will not cause the operating system to crash - bad drivers or hardware (or even the OS kernel itself) are the cause of that.

and since the game is pretty intense on hardware (its 4 core multithreaded and whacks those gpu shaders around hard)

Seems that the ps3 launcher might be leaving some dodgy update files on the ps3 hdd that needs cleaning off.

So, the PC crash was an OC issue that is now fixed, a memory clock setting got adjusted by mistake. I was able to play on PC most of the night last night up until the maintenance, so the the PC issue is not a concern for me anymore. (Aside from the obvious Server issues that are preventing me from playing at all today, but theres already several threads for that...lol)

I still would like to get my PS3 version updated and ready though. The bit about the updater leaving parts of a bad update files seems correct, and as a matter of fact, it was one of the first things I though of. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to clear those things out, save for reformatting the entire HDD, which just isn't a realistic option. I have already deleted the entire game and all associated files from the PS3, and tried to re install with the same result. So I'm not sure what to do at this point.

    My Solution

Hello. I was having the same exact problem. I may have a solution for you. Do you know about DMZ hosting? It's something to do with your router settings. If you can figure out how to get into your router settings then let me know so that I can help you.

You are not the only one with this problem I bought 2 copies of this game so me and my son could play together because we are very fond of RPGs but only I was able to get on my sons had the same error as you with the patch files we have both our PS3s in the same room and they are the same type but it let me on and not him we've tried the update 28 times and it still only gets to 1430mb then pops up with this error message. I'm puzzled at how few people are having this problem.

They updated the launcher yesterday I so hoped it was to get rid of this problem but it's still there. Are Square Enix just sitting twiddling there thumbs or something My son can't even play ffrrXIV and he loves Final Fantasy as well. I don't know about changing my HDD because that would mean I'd have to back up all my files and it's just a hassle plus I don't think I should have to do that because of a game -_-

Has anyone found a reliable solution for this problem?
We have a linkshell member with this problem, but he isn't firm in english very much.

    I like Random-Number-Generator
'cause I'm able to accept that
a dice normally has six sides
    a pyramid has 5 sides
    a toast has 2 sides
AND I CAN'T PREDICT WHICH SIDES IT FALLS TO.

While downloading the patch from the game client, I get the error:

    Unable to download patch files.
