[Suggestion] Remove General Discussion and have stricter moderation.

Right now the forum is filling up with so much rubbish in the general discussion, the gameplay and classes sub-forums are basically going unnoticed.

I think mods need to be more strict about what should be discussed and encourage players to be more constructive, how the devs can manage to read through all this junk is beyond anyone (especially considering the effort it takes to translate it).

There are a lot of trolls running around this place just posting for the hell of it and some fan-boys and girls that are just as bad, arguing over mundane things.

Surely this forum should be to help the development team by giving idea and suggestions in the correct sub-forums and not in the general discussion forum.

I agree with you somewhat, I rather have them move the threads dealing with game play into the appropriate board.

It's time for SE to tighten the noose on the some of the most blatant trolls (especially the ones that admittedly come here just to stir controversy and antagonize the development team and anyone that dares to like some aspects of this game).
The moderators encourage users to ignore them, but that's possible/doable only when the moderating team on any forum actually takes care of them in any definitive way.
If all you do for repeat offenders is to give them a three hours suspension (when we're lucky) or a wirst slap, they will soon develop a sensation of impunity, and think that whatever they do they'll always be asked to just take a short break just to come back after and troll again.
That's pretty much what happened here with some of the most persistant ones. Ignoring them when the moderators allow them to come into every relevant thread and try to hyjack it to oblivion (even when reported multiple times by multiple people) becomes very, very difficult.

Also, constructiveness should be strongly enforced in the forum. Displeasure should have a place, but purely bashing threads shouldn't be allowed, as they don't bring anything constructive to the table and do nothing else than overwhelm actually constructive and useful suggestions. It's the nature of the internet to have people flock to the most controversial threads, and no matter what people do, unless the moderating team crack down on the unconstructive ones, there will always be many people that will take the bait, with the result that they will choke useful discussion.

I understand that the forum is still in beta and as such policies are still up in the air, and I understand that Square Enix wants to give an image of a newly rediscovered open attitude towards criticism. But there's a BIG difference between criticism and unconstructive bashing. Any moderator worth his salt should be able to distinguish between them and allow the first while locking the second (and punishing offenders efficently).
I pretty much know no other official forum of any game (and most unofficials) in which trolling goes unpunished and unimpeded as in this one.
It's gotten to the point where constructive discussion is being seriously hampered, and it has to be stopped. That's all there's to it.
