So....basically, you're pairing me with somebody else's (I was wondering why TV kept getting brought up) necro thread and grouping us all together. That sounds suspiciously like you're just generalizing everyone into a single group. I didn't revive an old thread for the simple purpose of bumping a thread. I already told you why I revived some old posts. I engage in the discussion that does come from an old post when I bring it up...I invite other forum members to discuss the topic at hand with me.

Come on. Don't try to act like this isn't some game that everyone decided to join in on. That's the point of Joe's first post in here: it's gotten out of hand. Quite a few people are now filling up the forum with pointless threads, which is burying the actually current threads.

I can't speak for others, but the original few folks that I revived with, we've all posted a comment that obviously is looking for discussion. Current threads are just different rehashes of the same thing...not that it's a bad thing, but I know I personally wanted to have different discussions. Didn't realize that talking about the time you felt a huge sense of accomplishment in the Titan thread was a bad thing. That one, I really wanted to talk about (didn't have time over the weekend to get back to it). I've already named my example elsewhere. Yes, I made a comment about the necro war.... but it's funny that you are focusing on a one-line sentence, instead of the actual meat of the comments that I made in there.

Well if you haven't done any necros and don't plan to then you have nothing to worry about do you not? And trying to antagonize those that are attempting to address the necromancy makes you guilty by association as you are basically defending the necromancy. After all, why add to a fire you have nothing to do with?

Because, as I said, when I see people being rude and blatantly incorrect I enjoy calling them out on it. I see you and a couple others doing just that.

Maybe if you took a step back and realized how none of this matters even a little you'd see how you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

You're right, it is pointless. Literally. I don't think you even have an argument anymore based on what you are saying. And if you think I am offended you are mistaken. The only thing bothering me right now is playing Triple Triad against Elaisse, that and how long it's taking mods to address these necros.

If you really wanted to discuss such things why not simply consolidate them into a single thread, as has been stated already? That would not involve spam, not involve bumping dead threads, and can be positive in reception. Instead you tried it the least optimal way.

Clearly you have things wrong. I in no way have been rude at any point here, unless you consider me telling it like it is rude. Also the expression you keep using is actually more of an accurate statement towards the pile of necro'd threads. 1 or 2, not a big deal. 3 or 4, that's the molehill. As many as we have so far? Mountain. Can you blame me for trying to keep it from growing anymore than it has? Me and the others equally concerned about the flood of dead threads.

I think it's rude to waltz into a thread that was on-topic and derail it into this argument. I think it's rude to call people trolls for posting in topics about things they're interested in. I think it's rude to act like you have some sort of authority, moral or otherwise, over other forum members. In my eyes you are guilty of all of those things.

The concern is as Momomi pointed out: current threads are being drowned out by old threads unnecessarily. Spam is spam, and anyone that actually likes coming to the forums to see what's up and discuss things will have a hard time doing so when they have to dig through a pile of spam to do it.

The master thread's topic could be anything. Fact of the matter is (at least some of) the necros were done to revive multiple threads for the sake of amusement, regardless of the kind of amusement. Rather than simply make a thread with a positive topic or 2, several threads were revived. This is identical to creating several new threads, spam no matter how you look at it, and that has the opposite effect of what some like Kaiva were hoping to achieve. Sure some find it amusing, but not all.

As for waltzing in and derailing a topic, there was no topic to derail, unless it was of this necromancy game. It's called necroing for a reason... The thread was dead, should've stayed that way. Some of the threads necro'd as of late can still have relevance and those are the threads I did not report anyone in. Threads like this one and the other with a completely outdated topic that should not be revived on the other hand... And then there is the pattern of the fact this recent string of necros isn't going to end. That is why I voiced my concern. You may think me rude for doing this if you like, but frankly spam itself is rude in its own way, intentional or not. Also I never once implied I have authority over anyone, that's just an assumption you made in my attempt to call out what is truly wrong with all these necros. I also did not call trolling without merit, as the necroing itself has lead into that happening when some of us voiced concern over all the necroing in an attempt to defend it.

You've gotten to the point of repeating the same things over and over again just worded differently so I'm going to call this a lost cause. I hope one day you see logic.

The one point that I will repeat myself on is the actual impact of this "spam" - there is none. You scroll down a bit lower or click on the page 2 button. If you're so concerned with people being able to come to the forums to have discussions I would think you would know that.

This thread's OP made me smile - as I sit here with an entire week off of work with no plans, and food and drink soon to be stocked up, I am all ready for a week of gaming and relaxation! It makes me sad to see a jesty thread turned into yet another senseless and endless argument above.

If it wasn't but one of many in a string of necros it wouldn't be such a big deal. This thread just fell victim to a group of people partaking in a necro spree, and while it happened 5 years ago and is no longer relevant it can indeed have a positive impact on people the way it did with you. I mean it's marriage and enjoying gaming happening to someone so it can definitely be a pick-me-up of sorts. My condolences on having to see the farce of a circumstance that brought it back, for I wish it was a better circumstance too.

When you bring up an old thread, it causes confusion as people don't read the date and treat it as if it was a recent thread.

This is just my opinion, but wouldn't that be on the people that failed to read the date? The confusion? It's not like the date is hidden or hard to find; it's at the top of every post, and present after the thread title when they click on it. I'm sorry, but blaming Kaiva for others' inability to fully read is silly.

Nearly 50% of the threads on page 1 are necros.

Also, you previously said that any thread you wanted to make has already been made. Why don't you make a thread discussing the old topics of 2013? You can then keep this all in one thread.

Are we talking General Discussion, or New Posts? Because, right now, at 20 threads per page, General Discussion only has 2 threads as necros; and at 25 threads per page, New Posts only has 2 threads that are necros (this is excluding the ongoing megathreads, such as the Marriage Thread, Tales of the Duty Finder, and Show Your [X] threads—since they are not necros). That’s...not 50% of the threads on Page 1.

Keeping things fresh is the opposite of what you necroers are doing. Not to mention you are generating negativity within your own positivity by bothering others with your antics.

If people are bothered, that’s on them. Your positivity being affected is because you get bothered by little things. I see old threads necro’d, and I just don’t care. Hence, my positivity is not bothered by this perceived negativity.

I find some of these old threads interesting; it’s nice to see how things were back in the day before I played. Then again, I also have read some of the old Megathreads (such as the Tales of the Duty Finder and Healer Horror Stories) from start to finish when I first joined the OF. Because it was interesting to read people’s stories on things that are now trivialized by blatant overgearing.

By all rights a mod should be here right now locking this thread and others involved and disciplining the necromancers. If that had happened this conversation would not be happening. I am honestly awaiting their arrival to quell this farce. In the meantime I exercise my right as a forum user to complain against the necromancy taking place, and I am not alone.

If I knew how to contact a mod directly I would be doing that instead.

You have a right to complain, but you don’t have the right to really police the forums. Neither do people have the right to threaten to report people (that IS a violation of the forum, by the way, since you’re purposely threatening someone).

Honestly, it sounds like you should just let things go; you may be better off for it, since this apparently bothers you so much. I don’t understand WHY, because you don’t HAVE to click on any of these old threads—you can just ignore them and scroll past them; that’s what I tend to do, though I spend less and less time on the OF these days in favor of other things.

And, as I already pointed out, they aren’t swamping Page 1 of either General Discussion or New Posts, so they cannot be considered “spammy”.
