Ohhh nooo, lol. The excitement is real there...I can understand the feels. About XIV, that is. Don't know what that thing this on her finger that means someone is getting the m word...nope...don't know what that is at all.
The wisest choice ever made was picking up XIV lol.
Whaaaaaaaaaaa? I'm so terribly hurt![]()
I had to create a completely separate reply just for you two.
Oh yes, it's going too far because, rather than continue to constantly engage in doom and gloom, venting, arguing, and generally going into more negative posts than positive on a daily basis, a few of us pulled up some old threads that are fun and ripe for further discussion because a lot of what it talked about lately doesn't create a positive atmosphere. Oh, it's too far when we want to bring up some fun threads from those that came to the forums before us and bring them to a new audience.
Oh wait...it's just too far because....oh my god, because it's fun. And we all know that the forums are SERIOUS BUSINESS! and no fun is allowed here. Confirmed now...there should be a /nofun megathread now, eh?
So basically, you just admitted to abusing the report system because you're not necessarily having any fun. Or perhaps it annoys you because it offends your sensibilities? So if there are a rash of bans that come out from this, I suppose you'd be proud of yourself. Even though we aren't breaking any rules, we are actually fostering some discussion, and because this is different from the usual not-so-positive front page you're used to seeing. It's not like anybody has forced you to come into these threads. Nobody said, hey, Panda, you can't go into another thread until you come here. Nobody is intruding upon your enjoyment of the forums. These threads aren't even covering half of the front page.
But if you want to feel all nice and secure behind a computer screen and just send off random, abusive reports, then do you. Personally, I need a break from the arguments and doom and gloom and did something a little fun and relevant to the forum discussions. It's nice to look at the past threads. Feel free to try to get me permabanned, though, if that's what you want. Maybe a mod will talk to you, though - tell you the real valid reasons behind sending a report, rather than wasting their time because you want to be offended.
If you want to bring some positivity, then why not create some new threads instead of spamming the forums with necros? Necroing threads doesn't generate positivity, spam is annoying and creates negativity.
And no, this necro didn't foster any discussion, nor did the one about the TV. They're just pointless.
I think there are more than enough new threads being posted as is. Any thread that I wanted to personally create, they've already been created. Here's a bigger question - why do folks like you, Joe, and Panda have such a huge issue with this, when the JP threads have a tendency to do the exact same thing, and there really are no issues over there? Or maybe I should revive the NA community vs JP community thread again and ask that question there? If you want to bring some positivity, then why not create some new threads instead of spamming the forums with necros? Necroing threads doesn't generate positivity, spam is annoying and creates negativity.

Better yet, do you guys even know what spam actually is? You keep throwing that word out, but hmm...let's see what spam relevant to online forums actually is: related or unrelated advertisements, links to malicious websites, trolling, and/or abusive or otherwise unwanted information. And don't try to pull the argument that the last few words is related to these posts. If you're annoyed, then do the common sense thing and ignore it. It's not like you're being forced to read these posts. We're weren't distracting from any of the more recent threads that have come up either.
This thread is actually 1 of 2 that are not ripe for discussion at all. That is spam and nothing you say will justify your reasoning. As has been said already if you want to generate some positivity or have fun in a way that isn't something to get you moderated then make a new thread that actually has something to discuss. Right now all you necromancers are doing is trolling.Oh yes, it's going too far because, rather than continue to constantly engage in doom and gloom, venting, arguing, and generally going into more negative posts than positive on a daily basis, a few of us pulled up some old threads that are fun and ripe for further discussion because a lot of what it talked about lately doesn't create a positive atmosphere. Eh....again, there's over 9000 threads...It's not like I'm presently posting a necro every day, nor am I going overboard with it. If I filled the entire front page with old threads, that'd be one thing. But I'm not doing that. So I'm still failing to see why this offends you so much when I'm not even going overboard with it, nor am I spamming the heck out of this.Perhaps you misunderstood. Instead of necroing all of the threads, you can consolidate your discussion about all of these old threads into one thread. Then everyone who is interested can partake, and you don't fill up the entire first page with necros.
Kind of like a new "Tales of the Duty Finder" thread except you discuss tales of 2013.
Trolling who, exactly? Do tell who specifically I am trolling, because in every thread I've revived, I have left a comment and is quite obviously seeking discussion on what exactly I have brought back, my most recent example being the Miqo'te discussion and MMOs locking stats behind race/gender. I have not revived a single thread to grief or annoy somebody. No, what you are doing is looking for a reason to say I am trolling because I refuse to let folks that keep threatening to report me intimidate me into conforming to their standards on the forum, especially as I'm not spamming, I'm not trolling, and each of my necros attempt to bring discussion for the current group of forum goers. This thread is actually 1 of 2 that are not ripe for discussion at all. That is spam and nothing you say will justify your reasoning. As has been said already if you want to generate some positivity then make a new thread that actually has something to discuss. Little did she know that ring would become irrelevant as soon as the next patch came out...
Personally, the forums have been rather stale lately. It's been very entertaining seeing old threads pop up again, bringing back memories of the beta and early launch.
I've always found it weird how there seems to be this unspecified line between creating a thread too similar to another one and bringing one back up that relates to a topic you want to discuss if it's been off page 1 for too long. Wouldn't it be preferable, in terms of searching, to have -fewer- threads on the same topic to sift through? Even if you don't create a new thread on the same topic until after it's bumped off the first page, you're still going to eventually have a huge mess of threads when trying to search a particular topic. Or is it just a convenient "out of sight, out of mind" type thing?
