Patching: "No valid or active service account is available to play"?

I understand I don't get Early Access but why/would that mean I can't get patched?

Probably gating the updates, so the servers aren't being overwhelmed by tons of people that can't play yet. Those that can though will have an easier time getting started. Probably have to wait until the 27th or the day before to patch.
