FFXIV with FFXI Keyboard controls?

Hello,

Long time player of XI, wondering if anyone has suggestions for playing with keyboard only, no mouse. I'm used to the XI scheme of using the numpad for movement and arrow keys for camera... Is there an effective way to replicate this in XIV without screwing too much of the other settings up?

It's in the Menus somewhere (the ones that pop up when you hit Escape); I want to say it's under the "Character" tab, but I could be wrong. You want "Legacy Controls" (alternatively called "Camera-Based", whereas the default is called "Character-Based").

It's not a perfect replication of FFXI controls, but it does fix a number of the issues. For example, movement is still handled with WSAD, and moving your cursor through menus is done with the numpad (2,4,6,8). Numpad 0 is confirm, etc. Arrow keys still move the camera. If you want to go get it even closer to FFXI controls, you'll have to go into the keybinds and see if you can fix up the remainder of the issues, but I'm not sure if it's possible to fix it all. Since I don't play FFXI anymore, I just grew accustomed to the differences.

I adjusted all my keybinds to feel like FFXI. There are a few instances that can't be recreated and FFXI wasn't made to be played like FFXIV is so you'll have a tougher time trying to actually play XIV with a similar keybind.

I also tried to inadvertently recreate XIV's control scheme in XI. You can get pretty close with some of the new updates but mouse behavior is still very different. I'm not sure if anything of note control wise has changed with XI's new UI update or not.

Yeah the ability to use the down arrows to navigate through the menus instead of using the mouse to click down or over would be much easier than the current way. (Used to play FFXI too so I know exactly what you are talking about!)

I had seen the Legacy options (I have that enabled) but was hoping for that full blown XI like control scheme... I'm realizing it just may not be worth it, sadly...

the XI keyboard scheme was perfect. Right hand controlled movement/camera, Left hand controlled all macros and tabbing... I specifically buy my keyboards based on a layout that facilitates this control scheme.

I have to agree, Being a FFXI convert. Like many of the other users,
I find myself moving and hitting 1 to 5 with one hand and using the mouse for 6 to = This make tanking a little hard at times.
I have no problem using the mouse when doing things in the menu. However in the heat of battle it would be easier to control my movement with one hand, And my actions with another.
The key binding works but things I just can't get right.

This would also help a lot if chat enabled keyboard excluded 1 to = as start typing keys. Or at least a option to exclude them.
