Havent try retainer yet. I believe Retainer now is aka Auction House? Am I right?

Retainer is how you sell on the market, also your bank. You can access the market boards before that though.

Yes, each retainer can list up to 20 items on the "auction house" of special note, when you summon a retainer to put new items up for auction or deposit/withdraw items, the auctions they were listing are temporarily unavailable until you dismiss them.

There is no fee for posting, when sold 5%(I'm not 100% sure on that amount) is deducted from what you earned (Note: the buyer also pays a fee too, but that doesn't affect the amount you receive). I believe auctions are listed for 7 days (They're buyout only, there's no reason to list them for shorter times), the timer is refreshed anytime you summon then dismiss your retainer.

The way the Retainer's work is you can hire up to two, you customize their apperance and choose a set personality and name for them, they work as banks and are used to sell items on market boards. You can set each retainer up in different cities, but the items they post are avalible in every city, instead, each city has a Tax rate on the goods it sells, so say Ul'Dah has no taxes set and Gridania has normal taxes set, Sellers will get full price for items sold from a retainer selling in Ul'Dah, but only get 95% of the price of items sold from a retainer in Gridania. You are also allowed to transfer Retainers from one city to another so... it's really a silly system to be perfectly honest.

Got a source for that claim? That wasn't my experience during P4, but I didn't closely inspect my earnings.
