    DPS on Mage weapons?

I haven't looked too much into the way the new weapon setup works, but my question is for Mage DDs, do we care about "Magic Damage" "DPS" "Delay" "Auto-Attack" or just the stats (INT,etc) along with it?

In 1.0 it was pretty broken and the best thing was a one handed and a shield with good stats. I assume the biggest thing we want now is "Magic Damage" followed by INT, just curious if anyone can share a link to explanations on how it works in 2.0

    Thanks

You care about INT, spellspeed, crit, magic damage.

It is a stat on weapons only- it determines auto attack damage (but it might also factor in to spell damage calculations)

What about general spell damage ie Fire 3?
That's what I'm talking about when I say "spell damage calculations." In other words, the magic damage on a weapon does play a role in how strong your spells are.

Yeah, they have a 'magic damage' or 'magic attack' stat on them, that does actually factor in, never tried to work out how much, but they do have an effect.
(changing from a lv10 to a lv15 pink weapon from sastasha GREATLY increased my heals on CNJ).

    you care about Magic Damage

dps/delay/autoattack are pretty meaningless (unless you intend to walk up and melee the mobs instead of casting at them?)

the spell damage you deal is a function of your INT from items and the Magic Damage of the weapon you're holding, with the Magic Damage on your weapon playing a bigger role

the old formula was something like ((potency of spell)+INT)*(Magic Damage on weapon)

it heavily favored weapon damage over raw stats, although I'd assume the damage algorithms are a bit different (and probably more complicated now?) it seems that weapon upgrades are still the most significant

Magic Damage factors into all spells, healing, nuking, HoTs, and DoTs.

It's why changing weapons is so noticeable whereas simply getting more INT or MND gear is a bit more gradual, and also fixes the issue 1.0 had where there was no reason to upgrade your weapon until level 50.

A Mage's weapon is EXTREMELY vital to their overall Damage Output. Honestly you want to focus on getting the most powerful Weapon possible with the highest Item Level you can grab. Then local items with high Intel and even high Crit Rate. This is what really matters in DPS.
