What's a good new world to start on?

Yeah, Midgardsormr was great for Phases 3 and 4 in my experience. Hoping it holds over through launch!

Echoing this. I wanted to avoid a server that had a large number of online communities joining them (such as Gilgamesh, Diabolos, and Coeurl) but one still populated and active. Midgardsormr was a good fit.

Fresh server is the way to go.

Hopefully i dont get any hate for this...but u mite wanna stay away from Gilgamesh....it was nice is P3, but it was a little rough in P4. There are awesome people there, but now there are a lot more not so awesome people. Put it to u this way if i wasn't rooted there id transfer :/

I picked Coeurl because of the name it was that random. If it has large online community on it i may switch as I dont want to have to stand in line for creatures or such as i did during Phase 4, it got very crowded in the main areas tho when i went exploring down to the desert I saw no one there, which was nice. I am not sure if we can have characters on multiple worlds tho. Will have to research that. I dont want to lose my progress so i may keep with Coeurl for now.

I'd definitely pick one of the mid-population servers. Chances are you won't be able to get into places like Gilgamesh. Cactuar is a mid-range server that is probably pretty likely you'll get in

Also, I don't think Cactuar was selected as anything, especially 4chan...
GFAQs picked Gilgamesh a loooooong time ago. That was one of the reasons I didn't go there. That community is atrocious.

The list shows what communities have chosen as their server, for their members to go to together. Most have, as labeled, a legacy server for returning members and a new server for people not in 1.0.

My boyfriend picked Goblin randomly, so I went with it. I wasn't very concerned about joining a really crowded server or following a certain community because I prefer playing with people I know IRL. Anyway, Goblin has been pretty cool. A lot of people, but not overwhelming.

I'm surprised Ultros isn't more popular, at least in terms of forum loudness. He's only the best FFVI boss ever.
