Server Gating

Will the server gating be as strict as it was during Phase 4? I have a group of people that would all like to be on the same server, half are Legacy, but I doubt they will all wait the 5 hours I had to on the first day of Phase 4. (It got even worse the second day but luckily I had already made it on.)

Yeah, I'm hoping they've expanded server capacity or something this time around. I have several people who want to join my group on Balmung. Last time, they got locked out indefinitely. :| Hoping if they log in early enough, I can get them in. ><;

As far as I know, it has nothing to do with server capacity, rather they force people on to less populated servers.

I foresee this happening again to prevent the servers from crashing. Set the alarm!

For example, if a server can host 1,000 players (arbitrary number, I have no idea the actual capacity) you wouldn't want all 1,000 of those players all in the starting zones at the same time, everything would be too overcrowded and it would be a mess. Most of the high population servers turned off and on new character creation multiple times each day. If you were very determined to get into one of those servers you were usually able to.

True, but I could bring up the argument that I've paid for this game to have an enjoyable experience while playing with my friends. Waiting 5 hours to get on a server was not enjoyable and I know plenty of people waited much longer than I did. I would cancel my pre-order/demand a refund if it wasn't possible for me to play with my friends. I did the 5 hours because it was beta, but I would not do that during Early Access or Full Release while I'm playing on time I've paid for.

your paying for a service not I play your game so do it my way cus I said so. If they need to close a world for awhile on the game they made to populate there other servers they can do that its their game! if you don't like it go make your own game and do it your way.

What about the 30+ people who are in the starting zone right then, if they let everyone and their brother into the same server, I'm sure it wouldn't be enjoyable having all the quest mobs camped. Even at level 17-19 on Gil there were some quests that were very difficult to complete as everyone was just swarming quest mobs to kill everything, it would have been 10 times worse if they hadn't gated signups.

Sadly or Happily if you are Yoshi, this is a VERY popular title and hugely followed and anticipated. The Beta surpassed any previous Beta on record by thousands and we can expect many to come to play. I understand the need of the management to handle it as they need to, but hopefully we can manage. I suppose there might be some way of setting up reservations, but no MMO has tried that successfully yet. Any ideas would be welcome at the Head Office for everyone esp the Devs want everyone to have a good time.

CrisGer, though its common in the corporate world, your signature almost makes it look like you're a director/admin for the game (P.S. you misspelled Admin), you might want to put "of" in there to avoid confusion, especially with you commenting that "any ideas would be welcomed at the head office."
