With the DualShockers Interview at gamescom, Yoshida-san says that Ifrit Extreme will be in the next patch (called 2.1, out in 2014)... just saying

Just because something was a requirement in 1.0 doesn't mean it will be in 2.0. They already said no hamlets and no speed runs. We don't know what else has changed with it. We still have no idea if Ifrit Extreme is even required in the 2.0 relic quest. It doesn't really make sense for them to put in the relic quest again only to not be able to finish it until a patch down the road.
