Except that it's only an issue with this game, not with the PS3 UI or with any other game. So if I adjusted the television to be "right" for FF14, it would then be "wrong" for everything else.
Many other games have an in-game option to adjust the viewable area. I've never really had to worry about it before because most games "just work" with the default settings.
Overscan issues and screen size are two different things.
