I totally agree, I've had a lot of fun with the Beta phase 3.0 and 4.0 but I'm looking forward to official release. For me its a chance to take my time, enjoy the game at my own pace and I'm not sweating end game stuff right now. I look at this game as an investment of time, money, to make friends, and have a good time... maybe even take a few random pics. I still have people across the country I talk to everyday thanks to my years of playing FF XI. I look forward to having even greater experiences here, not to rush through to end game. However, to each their own.

This is the first MMO where a group of IRL friends and I actually want to play together, but since two of them aren't Legacy two of us will have to create another character (assuming they lock out the legacy servers for new players). If that's the case then I'll be taking it easy with my legacy main and grinding it out with my friends on my secondary.

I am already taking my time.

I did kind of rush through Phase 3, getting to level 25 and getting Grand Company gear, but in Phase 4, knowing it would carry over, I decided to take a different approach that I am continuing when the time comes.

I am going to be a Conjurer as a combat class, but I am also going to train Arcanist and Thaumaturge respectively to aid me as a Conjurer/White Mage. Seeing as how all the mage classes in the game are each in their own city, I can train each class with the quests surrounding that particular city, while also learning more of the story which is unknown to me as a Gridanian.

But before really sinking teeth into that, I am going to take a huge step back on combat classes as soon as a I beat Ifrit (in other words, as soon as I clear the storyline up until Phase 3) and focus entirely on gathering and crafting, leveling and perhaps maxing Botanist, Weaver and Carpenter. Few reasons to do so:

1. Convenience - Being able to make my own equipment wherever I am with no extra cost as well as fixing it if I am not close to a mender. Besides, I can get certain equipment ahead of time. Whether or not this will prove to exceed the dungeon equipment is yet to be seen.
2. Profits - Not only to save money but to make a lot as well. Each MMO has a thing for money and I can see XIV is no different. If I take the time to make and sell stuff for money long before I continue to really go past level 20-25 content of a main combat class, it can be a potential to really help me be on my own for a long, long time. In fact, after a certain point (getting a retainer most importantly) you could spend the entire game doing nothing but crafting and gathering and be fine and make money. To me, that is why the whole game has charm in the first place. You can be anything at all.
