Wolf Camp Natalan, 5 sets of gear to Spiritbond, dated gear for armour, coral rings and bracelet etc. Best way to make gil and material. Dated gear never had any benefits other than this to my knowledge it was extremely cheap junk.

they always sucked. but yes you can spirit bond dated items still. They are convertable, non meldable, non tradeable.

Your knowledge has no doubt improved by now but I will add this for those who have come lately to the game.
As just one example among several, I have a level 15 1.0 "dated" shield that is one of few mages can use. It is far and away better than anything available at level 40 and beyond in ARR, beating the stats of even the dungeon drops, so BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU THROW AWAY!
Yes, some, even most dated material may be considered junk, and with limited storage one has to pick and choose what will be kept, but some dated gear is nice just to keep to wear around town, especially if you're one of those RP-ers so popular on my server, Balmung, in which case I have a wardrobe to DIE for...and most of it fits all jobs too ^^.
SOME rare gems are more useful than anything currently available in the game. So those of us who kept some of our 1.0 "junk" are getting the last laugh on this one.
Funny, as much as ageism exists in this game, a little maturity really is actually quite an advantage as it counsels patience and careful consideration over hasty and broadly sweeping generalizations that do not always work to one's advantage.
Happy playing.

here's a list of every dated shield in the gameYour knowledge has no doubt improved by now but I will add this for those who have come lately to the game.

none of them have any stats besides block rate and strength, which are useless for mages. The level 10 Round shield is better for CNJ and the level 12 Leather Targe is better for both CNJ and THM.
