Technically it is a breech of the rules, but tons of people did stuff like use parsers, windowers, and TargetInfo (HP percentage and distance from character, etc.) without punishment in V1.

If you're at the point of asking like this, you'll likely feel bad about doing it and regret it. I would know, because a similar thing happened with me. It's complex, but the short version is I was thinking using turbo to craft would actually be okay because of something hypocritical. Hypocrisy nulls rules, and the Elecom controller "specially made to play FFXIV" had a turbo function. Turns out that's standard for a Japanese controller. I didn't know this, so of course I used it for the convenience, even AFK, but I always had this nagging feeling I was doing something wrong. It wasn't until later clarity came to me. This is just the short version, but basically I suggest not doing it unless a representative were to come in here and specifically give you the go-ahead. It's not worth the regret.
