    A black screen with no response from your PC would have nothing to do with your connection. Just to clarify.. you're saying that you have to force-reboot because of this issue?

    You might trying going into your catalyst control panel, finding the settings for FFXIV, and making sure all of the boxes that say "let application control" are unchecked.

    But first I would uninstall my graphic driver, run driversweeper, then re-install.
