Early Access Code vs. Digital Download Code

I participated in the beta and played FFXIV 1.0 (both PC). I preordered a PC digital download version of FFXIV:ARR for a friend of mine and I am using his early access because he can't play during the early access period. I have my "RAAU..." early access code all ready to go but I just wanted to verify something.

When the game actually launches, will there be some sort of serial code emailed out that I can give to my friend so that he can play the game? Like I said, I pre-ordered the game for the early access, but the actual game is for him.

I plan on purchasing the CE digital upgrade once that becomes available. Should I have any difficulties doing that based on what I've done thus far?

Yes, you will get a registration key which you give to him and hes good to go starting August 27th.
No difficulties at all, you get all pre-order bonus and then can do the CE digital upgrade. Pre-order bonus and registration keys are entirely separate things.
