Thread: Playing on PS3 after buying a PC copy.

Hey all i have a question i have not been able to get a 100% strait answer on. I purchased the PC version of the game and i am primarily planning to play the game on PC. I do also have a PS3 and wanted to be able to play on it if needed / bring it to lan parties instead of my 100 lbs. tower.

Do i have to buy a copy on the PS3 to play the game or will you be able to download a client to use on the PS3 for free without buying the game?

Yes, you need to buy PS3 game also.

In order to play the game on a system you must have a registered code for said system tied to your account. When/if you pick up a PS4 and you get the PS4 version, you will again need to buy the game for that system so at that point you would have PC, PS3, PS4. If MS changes their tune about Cross-play servers, you can likely expect to see an XB1 version of the game (but only if MS changes their tune, and not until then.)... The greatest thing about the PS4 version: PS4 has built-in-Twitch app for streaming your games.

If i were to cancel my PC preorder and change it to a PS3 one. Would i be able to play on the PC with that account?

If you have a 1.0 Account, then yes. If not, then no, as you do not have a PC Registration Code in your account.

Has there been any official word about having to Re-buy for PS4 if you own it on PS3 or is it just a calculated guess?

It was stated that they would be able to carry over their accounts, like we carry the accounts over from PC to PS3. They did not make any official statement about needing to repurchase it, but since it is a separate system and PS4 is not innately compatible with either the discs or digital version of PS3 games, I am willing to say with 99.99% conviction that you will need to repurchase the game. The only reason I'm leaving that .01% is because I am not a fool and they could easily stab me in the back with my expectation of having to repurchase... If I don't have to repurchase, even better, but I'm still gonna set aside $40.00 or $80.00 for another Regular / Collector's Edition.

They may (This is a may though) do what they've done with say, CoD Ghosts, which is if you buy the PS3 version, you get the PS4 version for a greatly reduced price.
