Wasn't there a bottle of wine in the main quest dated around 1547 and said to be made before the cataclysm?

The Ixali worshiped Garuda either before or after they settled in the Black shroud the first time, they didn't start losing their flight feathers until they were forced out and had to live in Xelphatol which is sort of like canyons. It seems like the exile of the Ixali coincides with the foundation of Gridania, which was granted by the Elementals (which the Hyur and Elezen were helped by the Moogles), so while the Elementals allowed the establishment of Gridania they booted the Ixali. Amberscale Rock, in 1.0 an Elder Elemental was trapped inside. Played a decent part in the Conjurer storyline in 1.0. http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Go...,_Sweet_Dreamsyea the legendary wine of FF games, also didnt the Ixali started to lose the feathers when they started with Garuda?

Nnnnot an elder elemental, Noloe, but a dragon.
If you completed the right quests (ALC and CNJ, mostly) you'd realize that the Ambescale Rock is actually a very powerful dragon, sealed by the Elementals, or so does the theory goes.
Theory is that, apparently, a dragon helped a young lad who was on the verge of death after being kidnapped (the story you learn about in the ALC questline in 1.0, it's actually a heretic tale in Ishgard), and it seems they both fled to Gridania. Then they brought about the greenwrath for some reason and, unable to kill the dragon, the elementals sealed him in stone and the boy, whom the dragon had taken as master(?) was turned into a wildling (who was brother morys, if memory serves me right)
Mind, that was mostly theorycrafting around.

bump for page 1~

Just wanted to say I've been scavenging around for more dates to add, I really hope SE brings back the "Newspaper" articles as they were a great source for Lore and were overall good reads. With that said I'm welcome to any and all dates that any old Lore buddies or new Lore fans could provide.

Thank you so much for this. Been looking forward to a proper timeline for ages.
Subscribing to this thread.

I'm starting a lore-based discussion setup with my FC and I think this would be wonderful to have as reference! Thanks![]()

While translation is a large part of our job, what is not known by many is that the EN localization team plays a large role in the creation of a lot of in-game terminology and lore which is then localized back into Japanese (with liberties often taken by the Japanese team so that the text might appear more appealing to their target Japanese audience).

There's an early quest in Hyrstmill in ARR that explains that the Ixal actually settled in the Black Shroud before the founding of Gridania, presumably when Gelmorra was still in existence, only for them to anger the elementals and be driven out (most likely due to their penchant for felling trees with a blithe disregard for the elementals' wishes).
In any event, it's regarded as the main reason for the Ixal's animosity towards Gridania, as they saw the Gelmorrans strike the pact with the elementals which led to Gridania's founding, and hence regarded Gridania as 'interlopers' on their wood (which as you mentioned Noloe, they regard as a holy place). I'll check my screenshots and post the exact dialogue from the quest for reference.
EDIT: the quest in question is called 'Harriers of the Hedgetree' and is a level 8 quest given by Eadbert in Hyrstmill:
So yeah, although it's somewhat vague, it pretty much says that the Ixal were driven out of the Black Shroud before Gridania was settled, possibly long before. It's anyone's guess as to exactly when that happened - Eadbert didn't really elaborate on it other than saying 'long ago', but the way he was talking, it definitely suggested pre-founding of Gridania.Originally Posted by Eadbert

"Needless to say, they weren't pleased when us Gridanians took their place here. In fact, it's none other than this resentment what kindled their hatred for us."

Shameless update bump with only 1 new addition: the date 'gil' was introduced into Eorzea.
