    Map Marking and Widescan

In Final Fantasy 11, an NPC in each city was added to the game that had the function of marking the important and useful points of each city map. This would be very useful to a new player who does not know his or her way around or simply someone who just forgot where a Repair NPC or Market Ward entrance may have been located. It would be nice to add such an NPC that would mark such things in 14 to help out the forgetful and new players.

As for a widescan like function, I think it would be nice to have. It may not have many uses now but maybe it could help to find where a nice number of a certain monster is to grind on or see if an NM had popped up. I wouldn't mind if my archer had this but it would be okay to just give to all classes really. In 11 radar was also very job specific and seeing how you gave a full mini-map with radar to everyone was just nice.

:3 i'm a forgetful player so ya an npc marker would help.

with wide scan it make competition for nms to great. and encourage but pulling or rmt farming since everyone will have it.
sorry leaping lizzy was so much more of a hassle then it needed to be in ffxi.

At this moment in time personally I'm not so fussed about not having a Widescan ability.
But, map marking I do want! The maps for areas are huge and trying to remember where you have seen certain mobs, harvesting points etc is a pain without being able to put a little tag on the map. It would be nice to have a similar function in FFXIV to show map marks made by NPCs for guidance, and also personal map marks that you can name as you please.

Competition for NMs will always be great if the NM drops something valuable. Widescan would only ease the process of finding them, it does not improve the actual chances of the claiming process if everyone can do it.

I don't really mind not having widescan, of course it would be nice but it's not something I /need/ right now. But I loved the markers in xi for the maps. Bring those back!

Absolutely agreed. Creating custom marks on your map like you could in XI would be a VERY welcome change. The wisescan thing....eh its not as much as a big deal to me.

Agreed I remember first starting the game out and tried to mark a spot...um nope you can't!!! This feature needs to come back. I just don't understand how they went backwards in terms of features in XIV seriously
