Fishing without Bait

While attempting to do some fishing at the coast of Camp Bloodshore, I noticing that I had forgotten to equip my bait on my first cast after changing into a fisherman. Much to my surprise I got a nibble right away as I was trying to force a cancellation of my cast. I jig of course and end up fishing up a Sea Pickle and 2 Lightning Shards. I found this a bit funny and weird. Has anyone else noticed that fish would still bite even without having any bait equipped? Does anyone also know if this was an intended feature because it seemed a little odd to me.

Fishing without Bait , don't really know about that one but it might be a problem&error just like [backwards fishing](is that still going on?) it was or is funny every time, ... anyhow yes lots of fixings and adjustments to do for the SE devs, indeed or "Fishing without Bait" maybe it could also be seen as good or bad for some it depends, how did you feel when it happened? did you hate it or like it?

I once ran out of bait on a leve quest. A huge fail I know, so this is not a complaining post, but I found the rest of the leve a nightmare. I could not get anything to bite.

It's possible to fish without bait, but the success rate and types of fish caught seem to drop significantly

Real life fish will bite on hooks without bait. No reason they shouldn't in game, its very rare so its not like you can abuse the system.

I've never been able to catch a fish without bait actually. But someone in my shell was doing a leve and he forgot to bring the correct bait, however he was able to complete the leve without any bait (granted it too him much longer than normal).

Fishing without bait is to be a hail mary. You can generally catch crayfish and whatever other worthless bottomfeeders (literally, lol) are out there and nothing else.

I can catch some, sometimes. Usually no bites. When I do, it doesn't seem to matter, I have gotten hammerhead sharks, breams, white coral, pickles, whatever,

I believe that you can still catch inanimate objects while fishing such as kelp and coral while baitless. It basicly weeds out fish; although im not sure if this makes snatching things such as red coral easier or not.
