You can. Depending on the level of the materia and how many are melding to a piece. Anywhere from 15~50 for materia by themselves, to 100~???? for multi melded gear. Cant give an exact number because it depends on the rarity of the materia and the number of rare materia melded to a NQ/HQ piece.
