@Kirol, for what it's worth, as it currently stands the nodes disappear off the map after a few minutes even if left untouched. This means you only have a few minutes to harvest from it before it despawns for another hour. I understand where you are coming from and how what you are suggesting would be more convenient for you, but I just feel like it would require even less effort if it was on a personal timer and the node was up at all times until you exhaust it. At least the way it currently works, you have to plan around this gathering activity rather than gather in between events to burn downtime. That sounds better suited for fishing to me...

Ah well. As long as the node allows everyone to gather from it I suppose I can't be too butthurt. Game days are short enough that it'd make for feasible gathering, and the nodes spawning one after the other make for a nice little trip each time. I guess it's just something I'll have to get used to.
