Used steam to create my account

So back on the 15th, i used steam to create my account, then i pre orded a key, which happened to be EU due to the fact that after clicking ANZ it takes you to the EU site no matter what.
I pre orded the game, it was registered to my account, via the steam option. Now, I'm a little worried because to login to FFXIV launcher you need a Square Enix ID. I ended up making an account and linking that to my "steam" account through the FFXIV page. Will my game be valid with my Square Enix account also, seeing i linked the account.

I'm a little worried,

Not sure what you purchased or registered on Steam but it wasn't FFXIV:ARR.

Yeap I can confirm that Final Fantasy XIV: ARR has never been placed on Steam and I imagine it won't appear there for sometime. So it appears you may have ordered a different title altogether.

Can't say that I seen this on steam, if it were there I think that's the place I would have bought it from. I know you can link your account with steam but not sure about buying through steam.

No, its not physically on my steam. When i created my account, through the offical Final Fantasy XIV page. It like, you can create an account using, bla bla, Facebook, Steam or Square enix NA. And im like well i wanna use steam cuz i got an account already

That sounds like you've created a Square Enix members profile (which you need to do to enter the preorder code anyway).

You also need an account at http://account.square-enix.com/ which is the main place. I believe all new accounts are automatically linked so just login there with your existing details.

Honestly your original post made next to no sense and I'm not really sure what you actually did.

If you can actually log into the launcher and get to the grayed out Play button you should be good to go.

Yeah, its confusing as fuck. But idk how to explain it any better. Lets try one last time. When i first pre-orded the game. I was prompted to create my account,( for the game to go onto ). There was several options to make my account, One of those being "Use steam to create your account". So i selected that, Pre-orded my game, its now registered on that account. I also created a "Square Enix" account, and linked the two accounts together.
Plus, how i can't register my key because i'm getting the wrong region error like manyyyy other people. currently sitting in the chat queue!

Did you register the game at https://membership.square-enix.com ? If so that is the social site and means exactly nothing.

Yes, i used that to register with "steam". Then i linked that account with a real Square Enix account, which can be used to login to http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/.
Under here http://na.square-enix.com/en/account/ My game is registered, did i fuck up or is that fine
