The whole point of failing leves is because the leve system is garbage. In terms of SP gain there is only 1 to 2 good leves at a camp. However, there are like 4-6 useless leves at those same camps. So why do players drop leves? Because it allows you to efficiently rank up by saving the same leves for every reset. This is especially good if you group with a static or even solo. If you want to find a public group, dropping leves is the easiest way to get into the high SP parties. Players that fail leves purposely are already losing all rewards given from the leve so I think that is punishment enough. If they go with your ignorant route of dropping a leve from your journal upon failure, that will be the most awful decision SE has made. The reason I say this is because outside of ranking up there is no other content in the game. Ranking up outside of leves is pretty much a waste of your time, unless you are trying to get only like 10k SP. As someone else also mentioned in this thread, losing your leve because you disconnected is also not very fair.

I would also like to add about the issue you are speaking of with inferno. If it is the same exploit that is done with Levinshower that allows you to keep killing the mob, then that has already been fixed according to SE.
@tou: read Alexia's post here in this thread. This is personally what I would like to see happen. And I don't think anyone is disputing WHY people are failing leves. Yes, it's obviously because its the best way to get SP. We want a BETTER system, not something worse. I think the people that come out so strongly against changing the current system to something better (there aren't many) are just afraid they will somehow lose their precious SP gains.
