    ffxi gameplay was not slow

In my opinion, ffxi gameplay was much faster than ffxiv. A lot of ignorant people will say that ffxi gameplay was slow because of the wait times on some weapons with auto attack, but it's only slow if you just stood there and waited for 100 tp; probably a rage quitting dark knight noob that nobody likes which is the type of people SE caters to with ffxiv with their "casual" gaming. All other skills activated instantly, so while you have basic auto attack going, you were provoking, shield bashing, meditating, keeping utsusemi up, covering, meditating, keeping up third eye, berserk, flash, absorb skills, enfeebles, curing yourself and allies, covering allies, timing your weaponskills for skillchains and magic bursts. You do all those routinely every battle to make sure everyone is alive and a lot of things can go very wrong in a split second.

Compared to ffxiv, sometimes provoke do not activate for 5 seconds, you get stuck in battle regimen, your skill doesn't activate until the mob is dead or your ally is dead, timing is not important, you can slack off because everyone can cure themselves, you can kill almost everything with no strategy at all, just mashing buttons and using weaponskills anytime you please.

So please give us auto attack and get rid of the stamina bar, and I want no lag when using skills.

Being laggy is not the same as being slow.
    FFXI is slow.
    FFXIV is laggy.

That said, XI still has the overall better battle system, so I would agree with you there.

I didn't think about it like this, but i have to agree, kinda. I'd say that currently the speeds are very similar though. I do remember having a really frenetic life in some lv75 parties with PLD, RDM, NIN... in FFXI, but not as much with DRG or other DD.

I remember that "you can play a DD while being AFK" was the running joke on my server back then, with some people having 3d party applications set to ring whenever a party battle was over so they could engage the new enemy.

I imagine that when the cap is raised in FFXIV and some new abilities and/or advanced classes are implemented the difficulty will raise considerably. I have especially high expectations for instances (our good ol' BCNMs.)

Not sure about auto attack, but i really agree with the skill activation lag removal though, if that is possible. After all, an old game like FFXI had no such lag, or not as noticeable.

I have to admit that i loved FFXI's battle system more, even though i was reminded by my husband that i hated it at first. I did play PLD and Dnc and i used to be busy in battles and it was not laggy it was fun....i don't like BR it is a pain if you get stuck in the mode. At the moment i just feel a bit bored with the system.

You're just listing a bunch of unrelated abilities used by various classes? Anyone could do that for FFXIV to make it sound like they're doing a lot, and at least they could all be equippable by one character.

Let's break them by warrior as an example then:
Provoke (tank only) once every 30 seconds
    Berserk every 2 minutes
Utsusemi (tank only mostly, even in abyssea despite the lack of dedicated tanks most people wont be getting hit a lot)
    WS

No one skillchains. No one magic bursts.

If you're implying that this is back when FFXI was young, there were even less abilities to be used by classes like warrior and dark knight, absorb skills were pointlessly weak and there was no point in using elemental spells. Black mages pretty much did nothing but cast an AM once per mob timed to a magic burst.

It wasn't faster, it just wasn't.

Edit: Also, it's not ignorance to compare the two and say FFXIV's is faster purely based on the fact that you HAVE to press something to even do anything. It's certainly not the better of the two systems right now but saying XI's was actually faster is just wrong.

XI is slow until you get a 80 Monk/Dancer with a KClub and OClub popping Hundred Fist.

    Then your f**ed.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

What OP means is, slow ppl can play FFXIV since it's essentially a watered down world of warcraft where users mash buttons on the number row to lvl up.

Sorry, but no. FFXIV's combat system is faster. A lot of ignorant people are people like the OP, not people who disagree with him.
