Bumping this thread as I don't believe the current mod response really suffices, especially in light of the information from the Letter from the Producer IX that I quoted above.

I agree, Once again there seems to be a massive influx of defections away from the game and no real way to properly administrate a linkshell.
Bumping as i saw no indication from last letter from Yoshi P SE is even considering working on this, Can we please get some update on the status of getting our linkshells in Order before many of us have to reform again because you guys have no clue how to prioritize what you are working on.
Its funny how one month, we get a letter assuring us there are different teams working on different aspects of the game. And another month later, the "team" is only focused on battle system, nothing else can be worked on "atm"...The development team is aware of your concerns but due to the fact that their current priority is the battle system, changes can’t be made right away, but they are thinking about doing this after. In order to implement these features, they would like to first implement text commands before this.
Please continue to send in your ideas for the dev. team!
really SE?

It's a programming issue as much as it is an UI design issue, which both goes hand in hand. Just because there's separate teams doesn't mean they don't intertwine.
People are asking for a *** simple command to kick people with. I didnt hear anyone ask for target mode C and what-ever-the-***/dtar is.
Priorities... There are way few people working on this game, if they ever want a profit.

Targeting has been broken for the longest of time, ever since Alpha, so obviously it's something they're constantly tweaking. Linkshell system is built around the serverside interface, so it would take more work to do (i.e distract the team) compared to targetting tweaks. Notice how sometimes there's a significant delay in updating the linkshell list? They have to optimize the servers then work on the system itself, which is why when the battle system is all said and done (which also requires server optimization) they're going to go with the linkshell system.
Which they already confirmed will be implementing commands...so what's the bitching for again? o.O

Its obvious they don't have enough people working on the game. Sometimes I wish they'd throw one or two of the "recycling every FF ever made - for a quick profit" teams, onto the FFXIV staff. Simply because this game **in theory** should make them way more money in the long run.
Stop recycling things Square did well 10years ago, Enix - you leeching bastards.
Put effort into your goddamn main franchise...

This is actually a good point. The time and effort it took to implement the targeting changes in patch 1.17b would probably have been the same as the time required to implement text-only linkshell commands such as
/ls1, /ls2, /ls3, etc
/lcmd kick Player Name
/lcmd add Player Name
/lcmd promote Player Name
/lcmd demote Player Name
/lstatus "insert message here"
I'd bet a large amount of money that such linkshell administration commands would have been better received by the community, too. Everyone has wanted them badly ever since beta.
Thank you, simple and obvious logic has many many virtues <3This is actually a good point. The time and effort it took to implement the targeting changes in patch 1.17b would probably have been the same as the time required to implement text-only linkshell commands such as
