Adding a political system

I would like to be able to run as ruler of a country, change taxes, build buildings, make campaign promises (Free Chocobos anyone?) stuff like that. In order to do this, they can set it up so the person can only rule maybe 4 weeks, and another election can run again before their term is up. The person would need as much support from their linkshell as possible and maybe build quite a good reputation with everyone in the game so they can get enough votes, or they can resort to bribery and maybe rule with an iron fist if they want to. Voting booths can be placed in the adventurer's guild.

So you ask, Why Dyne? Why would you want this to happen in this game? Are you crazy?

Yes, I am crazy, but the answer to the later questions is that I would like a very involved community of gamers. There are already a handful of gamers that you already know quite well in your servers, and I would like that reputation to be significant. In ffxi, most people knew the good, very skilled players, as well as the best linkshell leaders, and they also knew the bad ones. They also remember those random acts of kindness made by certain players. If this forums are any evidence, most people want some drastic changes in the game, and their opinions are being voiced out with a passion.

I wouldn't say, do this now. I want the devs to fix the game and make it fun first obviously. But, I do want this planned sometime in the future.

Ok well your response is very vague and completely unrelated to my topic.

Maybe make the auction house an optional item that the ruler of the country can add to the market wards.

This shouldn't be just server-wide, but community-wide feature. That makes it much more interesting imo.

Should have the elections for each city diff then have them fight to control the other cities and raise taxes. Would be sweet, sieging ul'dah and stuff.

Also instead of only elections you could have it where you could pk the current elected guy and usurp the role.

What? and become president of lodestone? I want people to run Limsa, Uldah, and Gridania and compete against each other. Maybe we would have player housing in Limsa, but in return we would have to pay higher taxes in the wards. It also gets taken out if there is not enough people paying taxes or not collecting enough in taxes. It would enforce loyalty and pride to your nation.

Thank you, that is exactly how I envisioned this lol. Well without the PKing part since we don't have pvp and killing someone in game means they would just respawn and get raised and they are fine. I'm all for destroying Uldah though. Maybe, they should make it so you can destroy buildings made by the other nation, but not the buildings that are made to be in there by developers.

I will respectfully pass; it would just turn into another aspect of the political system we already have: Those who consider themselves hardcore versus those who consider themselves casual.

And oh, what do you know, just like real politics, there's not actually that much difference between them and yet they can't stfu about eachother. Awesome.
