btw i wanna ask if fist of wind is superior compared to fist of fire when used on titan ex fights? 15% movement speed increase seems godly to avoid all those crazy stuffs compared to a miniscule 5% damage increase in a fight where survival much more outweighs dps?
I can dodge fine with Fist of fire, and imo, dps is too important in this fight, many things require dps check (gaol, heart, dpsing bombs), so fist of fire is too good to pass up.
What he said. As a DPS, you job is to do damage. Every little bit helps, because all the little things adds up, which is why it bothers me when people say so-and-so helps, but barely matters. (Especially in terms of DoT)
If you do have an issue moving out of AoEs, I would recommend this macro:
/ac "Fists of Fire" <me>
/ac "Fists of Wind" <me>
That way, you can keep up your 5% damage, and when time to move out of an aoe, pop the macro and it will turn on wind. Done moving around, pop Fire back on. rinse repeat. I personally do it with Fire and Earth, for situations I know ill be taking damage.
A dead monk is worse than a monk doing 5% less damage, of course.
If you have lots of trouble dodging stuff, you can and should use Fists of Wind for the time being, while you grow accostumed to the fight to the point you can use Fists of Fire, while perhaps using MrDiezel's macro inbetween, once you kinda know what to expect. Of course, that would mean your gear should be very good to allow you to still put your weight even with the wrong stance.
there is also always the option to use fist of fire at the dps checks and use fist of wind otherwise. it doesn't really matter if it takes you a bit longer to kill him if less errors happen and thus the kill gets more consistent. and if you are more comfortable with the fight you can use fist of fire the whole time.
All these stuff with fists stance. Tbh, you have plenty of time to dodge anything in Titan ext. You don't need any other stance except fist of fire. If you want to dodge better, all you have to do is learn the rotation and watch videos to memorize everything. But tbh, the only "hard" thing to dodge is the plumes, so you need to learn when Titan is gonna use plume.
Nothing is hard after practice, but everyone has a different learning curve, connection is not stable to everyone, PC might not be the fastest etc, there's no need for any elitism as people learn fights and get better.
Hopefully this is not too much off topic, but there was some Elitist Jerk math in WoW during the BC/WotLK era that showed that on most fights it was a DPS gain to enchant feet with movement speed buff over any other stat (because getting to the mob half a second sooner was better than any stats available). Now the situation is a little different here because we have to choose between movement speed and 5% damage buff, but the idea remains. Could it be a DPS gain on some fights to stance dance correctly? Like Garuda EX or Turn 4?
On a side note, I wish spamming a stance didn't turn it off and on (or that we had /ac "Fist of Fire" On). It makes it unreliable to stance dance due to how weird off GCD stuff works in this game.
The alternative enchants in WoW were negligible. A 5% total DPS buff is not negligible. Also, Monks can charge with a low cooldown. It would be an interesting simulation exercise to see if you can gain 5% total DPS from the boosted movespeed, but it seems dubious at face value.
