My comment was specific to phase transitions (and I had one yesterday where Titan transitioned, then paused, then re-did his last animation -- the total phase transitions was ~15 seconds -- try to maintain GL through that).

That is also what I was talking about. I never lose GL except for transitions or dps taking to long on my jail. I also never lose stances except on start of heart phases. GL can be kept up between transitions sometimes but its really hard to pull off and generally not worth the risk if you have even the smallest bit of lag.
